Glossed over: Scott did well despite the hosts confirming yet again that they’re left-wing hacks with no interest in the norms or decorum French expects the right to abide by.

Scott held his own but it confirmed much of the media is a waste of time. No minds were changed.
Republican primary voters aren’t tuning into The View to figure out who they’ll support. And neither the hosts nor their adoring progressive wine mom viewers are open to voting Republican. They’re rooting for the hosts to insult and mock him.
I like Scott and give him credit for doing well despite it being a waste of time and masochistic endeavor. But the idea that Republicans are just some left-wing media engagement away from maybe winning over people who watch MSNBC and The View, is delusional.
Goes back to mainstream media “Republicans” like French not realizing — or not caring — that lefties aren’t reading or listening them because they’re interested in reasoned debate. They’re listening and reading to hear you say bad things about Republicans and affirm their views.
“See? Even Republicans like Amanda Carpenter and SE Cupp say Republicans are crazy now and Democrats are the only reasonable option. Even they say we’re right.”

That’s it. That’s the whole game. They’re not actually open to your reasoned disagreements with them on fiscal policy
Abraham Lincoln could be resurrected and they’d be explaining why actually he’s problematic when you think about it.

They’re every bit as blindly partisan and reactionary as the right. You can just condone their bullshit and still get invited to the cool parties.
People like French and Cupp misinterpret the left’s interest in them as See The Left Can Be Won Over if You’re Reasonable Like Me.

Not realizing the left would label you Hitler the moment you change from attacking Republicans to asking them to change their views even a little.
They think you’re a bigoted fascist if you think men can’t birth babies. Good luck convincing them that actually big government is bad and they need to reverse and sacrifice decades of big spending wins on the altar of fiscal responsibility.

Crazy how that fraud only stops certain conservatives and not others -- in the same states! Those silly progressives keep forgetting to rig some of the most important races while rigging others. And it consistently plagues the most unpopular Republican candidates.
Look at Georgia, for instance. Crazy how liberals managed to rig the one Senate election featuring an unpopular Trump-backed candidate but forgot to rig the other important elections featuring more popular conservative candidates Trump hates.
Those crazy liberals in Arizona managed to rig the elections against candidates like Kari Lake but forgot to rig the other state elections, and so Republicans hold majorities in the state house and senate, and 6 of 9 Congressional seats.

.@charlescwcooke's podcast is refreshing in that it's conservative/libertarian without ONLY TALKING POLITICS. And it makes you realize how big a market there would be for general podcasts that have rightish bents. Basically where you're not randomly going to encounter wokeism.
@charlescwcooke People on the right are all too familiar -- in a way people on the modern left aren't -- with trying to listen to a podcast of some non-political interest only to suddenly encounter left-wing talking points accepted as fact and underlying assumption. Like the podcaster doesn't
@charlescwcooke for a moment consider that someone outside of the left could be listening. Which is fine when it's an expressly political podcast, but when it's a history or literary podcast from a major media outlet or cultural institution, it's obnoxious and jarring.

Reminder that before the anti-gun "you don't need rifles when you have handguns" talking point, their talking point was "you don't need handguns when you have rifles"

The Brady Campaign was first Handgun Control, Inc and worked with the National Coalition to Ban Handguns.
Handgun Control, Inc. didn't become the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence until 2001.

Much of the anti-gun hysteria of the 1990s involved handguns. You were told you didn't need them when you had hunting rifles and shotguns.
Which plays a big part in the blunt political refusal to accept any bans. Because it's a not-so-secret reality that as soon as the most popular rifles are banned, they're coming for handguns next. You could agree to ban everything but .22 pistols and those would be next.

"The cats do not necessarily belong to the Prime Minister in residence, and it is rare for the Chief Mouser's term of office to coincide with that of a Prime Minister"

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chief_Mou…
"There is evidence of a cat in residence in the English government dating back to the reign of Henry VIII, when Cardinal Thomas Wolsey placed his cat by his side while acting in his judicial capacity as Lord Chancellor."
Henry VIII died in 1547.

The first prime minister wasn't until Robert Walpole in 1721.

Exactly why I say that wokeism doesn’t involve actual reform, just the performance of virtue.

Wokeism isn’t actual reform that will make the lives of minorities better. It’s white lefties performing their virtue even when it pisses off minorities.
In fact it’s been marked by white lefties insisting on wokeism against the wishes of minorities.

The most famous example being “Latinx” no matter how many times overwhelming majorities of Hispanics wanted that bullshit to stop.
Or “Defund the Police” being chanted by a bunch of white leftist lemmings whose own white dominated neighborhoods would never go without policing, instead tossing minority areas into the jaws of unchecked violence.

So if culture war issues -- including taking on the left's cultural influence in institutions -- are supposed to be off the table, what is the Trump argument?

Entitlement reform? No.

His incredible record on guns? No.

His great record on COVID? No.

His great hires? No.
His proven popularity and electability? No.

His record of firing power-hungry bureaucrats? No.

His dedication to pro-life causes? No.

Even amongst the activist base's pet issues he's terrible.

Hatred for the WEF? He went repeatedly and praised them.
Hatred for Fauci? He gave Fauci a presidential award for his work on the vaccines and kept him in charge to the end.

If his name wasn't Trump, he'd be a fourth-rate candidate everyone laughs off and who drops out before Iowa.
