She quit in 2011, came back in 2013, quit again in 2016, came back in 2017, & quit again in 2023.

For most of the past decade, she was in powerful & influential positions – Editor, Director of Editorial Strategy, & Chairperson.

A thread on why her complaint below is hollow
If one were to do a pre-Malini and post-Malini comparison of The Hindu, the "entrenched bias" that @MaliniP talks about, was actually entrenched during her powerful tenure.

The paper had become virulently anti-BJP under her tenure. Sample this article by her in 2018. (1/n) Image
During her powerful decade, the story of Muslim girl being denied rental accommodation was made up. No apologies.

A detailed article on "Corporate-Hindutva alliance" was published (to achieve what ends?)

Tried to foment trouble by saying Muslims of being bludgeoned. (2/n) ImageImageImage
During her powerful decade, The Hindu normalised communal and electoral violence if it was done by groups it liked.

Stone throwing was "protesting".

50 people die in WB. It's a "grim turn" and "high cost".

Call terrorism became "Pro-Afzal slogans" (3/n) ImageImageImageImage
Govt deregisters more than a lakh bogus companies; we are told that this was a "veiled threat to comply with law".

Published an entire article suggesting "bold reforms". Only problem is that all of them were already implemented!

serious--fun.blogspot.com/2017/07/the-hi… (4/n) ImageImage
"Don't read too much into data" was her suggestion when the economic data was looking good.

Mikhail Gorbachev died, we are told how India is doomed economically

Her senior editor went on a rant after he was called out for poor data interpretations (5/n) serious--fun.blogspot.com/2017/10/this-s… ImageImage
During Malini's powerful tenure, abrogation of Article 370 was a watershed event. Her entire team went bonkers and wrote article after article after article on how India has failed.

They undermined violence against Pandits by calling it an "expulsion" (6/n) ImageImage
Another watershed event during her tenure was the CAA - She blamed PM Modi of listening to only one side of the story. And then went on to publish lies and about 50 articles in just 10-15 days with only one side of the story.

Detailed rebuttal (7/n): opindia.com/2020/01/the-hi…
She was Director of Editorial Strategy when the infamous #CropItLikeTheHindu scam happened.

The entire newspaper was invested into fudging data to show Rafale as a scam- serious--fun.blogspot.com/2019/03/mr-n-r… - and they are all yet to apologise for all of these lies. (8/n) Image
Under Malini's powerful tenure in the past decade, The Hindu has also normalised undermining election results whenever BJP won. Went to the extent of calling 2019 as an "intoxicating verdict".

But when Opposition wins, there was simply no limit to praising the leaders. (9/n) ImageImageImage
The affinity towards covering Rahul Gandhi is a lesson on how to be more loyal than the King. All of this great coverage of RaGa despite all of his failures, happened during Malini's powerful tenure.

If this is not bias, then what is? (10/n)
opindia.com/2023/02/the-hi… ImageImageImageImage
The elitist disdain is evident in how Malini was thrilled that PM spoke in English with her. Pre-2014, she asked if we want a PM who cannot speak English.

She commissioned multiple elitist pieces to criticise all efforts to modernise Indian Railways. (11/n) ImageImage
There are many many more examples of how entrenched the elitist bias against Prime Minister Modi has become in The Hindu under Malini's powerful tenure.

Pointing out this bias was looked down upon. Today she claims the same bias 😂Her complaint will have ZERO buyers! (12/12)

The Editors Guild is often in the news. Do you know what the Editors Guild actually does? Nothing. They do nothing meaningful at all.

A short thread on what they do (or rather don't do!). (1/n)
Editors Guild came up with a "Code of Practice for Journalists" way back in 2007.

And that too, they copied from Britain. These people can't even write guidelines without relying on what the British did. No wonder they are so servile. (2/n)
Editors Guild is in the news when they release statements. Even that, they don't do it regularly. Since January, they have released only 11 statements. 11 in the entire year so far!

Delving into the content is yawn inducing- there is nothing novel in them either. (3/n)

Since @svaradarajan is the flavour of the season now, and since most seem to be thinking that this is the 1st and the only time he has lied, fabricated and spread bile - I think we should take a trip down memory lane about this guy.

Thread (1/n)
@svaradarajan If:
Gandhis step down from leadership

and:
Modi wins in 2024

then:
Indian Union will cease to exist in 2029.

That's an actual prediction made by
@svaradarajan and his team.
@svaradarajan It was @svaradarajan who started the lie that the PM said Bhajans solved Nutrition problem in MP. Loyally picked up by the likes of KTR.

SidV's penchant to trivialize serious problems is not new at all. (3/n)

In 2018, KCR thundered:

"What business does the Prime Minister have to build roads in 6 lakh villages in the country? Aapko kya kaam hai bhai?".

He is an ardent opposer of PM Gram Sadak Yojana. Will scrapping it be part of his new party, Bharat Rashtra Samiti's, manifesto?
In 2018, KCR thundered:

"What business does the central government have in hospitals, schools, education, municipalities?"

Will KCR announce the scrapping of some of these ministries as part of his new party, Bharat Rashtra Samiti's, manifesto?
In 2022, KCR thundered:

“The average speed of our truck is less than the average speed of trucks in the world. We need a new Constitution to increase the speed of our trucks on the road. What is wrong in what I am asking"?

Will KCR include this in the manifesto of his new BRS?

Sequence of events:

1. Alleged comedian Munawar was getting cancelled everywhere because of his crass comments on the Gods of Hinduism.

2. Telangana CM's son, KCR, invites Munawar to Hyderabad to exhibit his alleged comedy. (1/n)
3. Raja Singh threatens to protest and cancel Munawar's show. KCR provides 100s of police as protection to Munawar's venue (some say police were more in attendance than the audience).

4. Raja Singh releases another video, using exact same cuss words that Munawar uses (2/n)
5. Raja Singh also refers to characters from Munawar's religion, without taking names, in his video (not very well made, IMO, but that's not the point).

6. KCR not only arrests Raja Singh, but also arrests BJP State President Bandi Sanjay and stops his padayatra. (3/n)

In 2008, SoniaG's govt allots 2G spectrum to 9 companies. Each company paid 1650cr.

One such company, Unitech, soon sells 60% of stake to Telenor for 6120cr.

If 60% = 6120cr, then 100% = 10,200cr

So, actual value: 10,200 * 9 = 91,800cr
And, actual received: 1650*9 = 14,850cr
The CAG formulated a range of "presumptive losses" based on such sales and also auction of 3G spectrum.

That range was a whopping 57,666 crores to 1,76,645 crores.
Such was SoniaG's hold, that A.Raja could defy advices from Telecom Commission, Law Minister and Finance Minister.

Not only that, A.Raja dared to defy the orders of the Prime Minister of India.

All this under SoniaG's watchful eye.

Journo @the_hindu: You amended the flag code. It is benefitting China because you are importing.

Kishan Reddy: No, we only are stitching flags in our villages with self help groups.

The Hindu: Kishan Reddy defends flag import.

A full rebuttal here: opindia.com/2022/08/the-hi… Image
Flag code, 2002: “The National Flag shall be made of hand-spun and hand-woven wool/cotton/silk khadi bunting”.

Amendment in 2021: “...Flag shall be made of hand-spun and hand-woven or machine-made, cotton, polyester, wool, silk khadi bunting”.

Media: Modi is importing flag.
Kishan Reddy's OSD sends a stinging rebuttal to @the_hindu . Slyly, @nambath changes original headline in online version.

And publishes clarification in only the "AP" section, whereas original fake news was published in "South" section.
