I'm grateful to be a journalist dedicated to the south. I'm grateful to know that my job is to correct the record as the facist state rises. My love for black people is at the core of why I do this.
Legacy media failed the #StopCopCity movement and I will never forget that.
when protests happen and editors are begging black journalists for bylines and begging for someone to explain away white people guilt. I will remember how legacy media didn't see #StopCopCity as something worth covering as the 2024 election is around the corner.
I will remember how you ignored the Black folks from Atlanta speaking on #StopCopCity and how you will approve profiles on black women “saving democracy” yet again but never covered how the police state took over in the same year.
you are spineless and I won't forget this.
Thankful for all of the journalists and organizers who dedicated their lives to reporting on this for the last three years.
When the vultures come running to Gerogia next year asking for our expertise, I hope you are able to say no to make sure the news gets to our ppl.
All those BLM packages disappeared after 2021 and we've seen the industry collapse into itself. Layofffs are running ppl out of this industry. Millionaires are sacrificing working class ppl.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions and I’ll clearly see a lot of you there.

good morning good people, dropping a thread here for journalists and media folks on how to ethically report on the protests!

Invoking panic for the sake of performativity is frustrating because it often erases the people who have been doin the work for A WHILE and warps what these issues actually look like
In regards to HB 481, it’s sad seeing people invoke panic without acknowledging the coalition in GA that has been organizing since before the bill even hit the floor
Handmaid’s Tale references are not only not accurate but expands an issue that people feel is undefeatable. Abortion is still legal in GA.
Going to do a thread on the new DeVos Title IX regulations and how that is going to hurt survivors in the AUC:
*deep breathe* Ok so DeVos and her administration are looking to roll out new Title IX regulations. All of the new rules are trash and look to keep survivors silenced. See Below:
The new regulations are:
-Schools would only be held accountable to dealing with assaults that occur on campus. So any reports that occur off campus or in frat houses have to go through Atlanta Police Department.
