The @perpprotocol team recently hosted a Community Call to discuss the impact of $OP's coming #Bedrock Upgrade, updates to their rewards program, and the features and functions of PerpSim 2.0
Here are some of the key takeaways 🧵
1/ Jamie says that there will be downtime on the Optimism network during the upgrade and to prepare for the upgrade, Perpetual Protocol will be paused half an hour prior to the upgrade.
2/ He says that traders can look forward to cheaper gas costs after the upgrade, with costs expected to be reduced by about 10%. He says that the upgrade will result in shorter wait times when bridging funds to Optimism; from the current wait time of 10 mins to about 3 mins.
3/ He advises users to ensure their margin ratio is high enough before the upgrade, especially if they're using more than 2x or 3x leverage.
4/ He says that starting June 19th, there will be a reduction in liquidity mining rewards for Pool Party. The rewards will be reduced to 270,000 $PERP per month.
5/ Lee (co-founder) says that PerpSim 2.0 has been released. He says that the tool provides a lot of information including the different assets supported, a liquidity graph showing how liquidity is distributed, and tools to set theoretical ranges for providing liquidity.
6/ He says that the tool provides backtesting features and simulation capabilities, and users can now directly add and remove liquidity from its interface.
A lot more was discussed during this Community Call.

There's been a lot of noise around @tapioca_dao as of late. But what is Tapioca and what are they building?
Our analysts have covered Tapioca at length, but here's a TDLR 🧵
1/ Tapioca is the first fully cross-chain permissionless money market for long-tail assets. Tapioca allows users to lend and borrow assets between different networks, basically defragmenting liquidity and achieving higher levels of capital efficiency by being interoperable.
2/ Tapioca’s vision lies on the premise that fragmented stablecoin liquidity across chains is a large source of friction for DeFi users, since they often have to wait for several minutes and/or incur slippage when transferring assets from one chain to another.
@dopex_io is a protocol that we cover at length via our Project Breakdowns.
If you're interested in any of their products, such as SSOVs or Atlantic Straddles, we go into detail about what they are, how they work, and other details you need to know.
When we cover a project, we REALLY cover it. That means, whenever teams make changes, updates, etc., to their protocol, we update our Breakdowns accordingly.
In this way, you have ALL the information you need in ONE place.
With that said, here's a short primer on Dopex.
1/ Dopex is an options protocol that introduces DeFi primitives such as SSOV Options (Single Staking Options Vaults), Liquidity Pool Options (LPO), and Atlantic Options.
Here are some key takeaways from this conversation.
1/ The CFTC has strong evidence against Binance, including employee testimonies, transaction records, conversation logs, and text messages. CZ denies trying to circumvent rules but argues they operate within them by not accepting US customers.
2/ The legal battle between the CFTC and Binance could have significant implications for the crypto industry. If Binance loses the civil suit, it may face a hefty fine. Criminal indictments are also possible. CZ's reputation may suffer, but business is expected to continue.
1/ Rune Christensen (Maker) introduces the idea of using AI to help manage the complexity and information asymmetry in DAOs. He believes that DAOs, by their nature, can become complex entities with numerous stakeholders and decision-making processes.
2/ Rune thinks that this complexity can lead to information asymmetry, where some participants have more or better information than others. AI could help manage this complexity and reduce information asymmetry.
An Eth researcher and digital asset portfolio manager walked into a podcast. Epic conversation ensued.
In @vaneck_us recent space,
Pranav Kanade - @pkan90 is joined by
Justin Drake - @drakefjustin to discuss $BTC, recent events, @Ethereum Foundation, Shanghai upgrade & more.
1/ Ordinals And Bitcoin
There’s no $BTC bridge from the Bitcoin main chain to the roll-ups.
$BTC isn’t as extendable and usable as a data availability layer compared to @ethereum
When converting $BTC to fiat, you still need to use a CEX.
2/ $BTC’s issuance will eventually go to zero and the blockchain will have to be secured through transaction fees.
If there are no interesting things going on in $BTC, there will be no incentives for miners to be validators.
