"gatekeeping" doesn't work; "invasion" theory is misguided: 1. everyone's gonna get into something if they want to. every small fanbase is one popular youtube video away from being flooded by a huge wave of new people 2. longtime fans turn into "invaders" cuz they want approval
you still talk about Dragon Ball without annoying tvtorpes shit/politics & there's no gatekeeping. even "Abridged improved it" types never outweigh the rest cuz its massive fanbase was well established before online culture got so deranged & its tone's a pretentiousness repellant
of course you SHOULD be able to enjoy "artsier" stuff too & not have to deal with "Anno & Miyazaki think anime should be banned (and that's a good thing!)" but I dunno what to do about that beyond just creating a positive example & making fun of wanky fans. culture's a mess now
the issue's way bigger than any individual fanbase & it's hard to fight cuz most fans of games/anime/etc don't get into in-depth discussion & most of those who do are easily swayed by pretentious big-words video essay speak. those who get nerdier AND see through bullshit are rare
best bet is to find the absolute dumbest takes that e-celebs push and publicly mock them to the point where they're stigmatized for it. my screencaps of hbomberguy's Kill la Kill analysis posts on SA got all over the internet & he had to admit he was wrong cuz everyone mocked him
the average analysis enjoyer is into pretentious shit. total normies don't respond well to analysis but they do respond well to memes. so the way to fight pretentious shit is to turn pretentious attitudes into mocking memes
whoever breaks the chain of irony & decides to just make another unironic winnie the pooh adaptation with a unique artistic touch like the soviet one is gonna be rich (probably (I hope))
trailer woulda been better without the "we have lumpytouch at home" final shot
I was drowsy from waking up with this awful unending cold and thought this was a huge cardboard ad or something at first so I figured "hmmm that is pretty bad" now I realize it's just a book some idiot accidentally put in the kids section. who cares
self hating nerds wouldn't shut the fuck up "wahh problematic objectification wahh degenerate anti jesus" and now normie conservatives want to ban this shit that's been in stores for eons
"It probably never was in the kids section anyway" yeah she could very well be lying
the pic is like doug walker using a bad outdated meme. ollie is genuinely too normal and not social media savvy enough to understand why someone would look at it and take it very seriously/get genuinely angry at the "cringe" or whatever
if it's harder why don't you get more frame by frame stuff. don't think audiences find motion tweens more 'impressive'
not that, say, vanillaware visuals can't be hard to make and la planete sauvage/yuri norstein-like stuff can be seen as proto-tweening but it's very clear what OP is talking about
