In today's #dailysoup, I'll introduce Filipino professor, politician, and pro-Kremlin adviser, Clarita Carlos.

Her pro-Russia and pro-China peepotalking are known to pave the way to her "Philippines-should-remain-neutral" advices to my country's president.

1/25 Image
Carlos served as a political science and international relations professor at the University of the Philippines until recently. She also served in the same position at the Ateneo de Manila University and San Beda University.

2/25 Image
Carlos was known to serve as Marcos Jr.'s NSA for a short time. However, she left the position, with her claiming that "she was ousted", while Marcos Jr. claimed that "there was no ouster".

Carlos is praised by other Filipino vatniks like Anna Malindog-Uy.

3/25 ImageImageImage
According to Richard Heydarian, one of her former students, Carlos is known to be "a very considerate and generous prof" in the lecture classroom.

However, when we dig deeper, it is a different story.

4/25 Image
Carlos' stance is somewhere along the lines of "we should prefer the non-aligned world x Global South more cuz the West has been doing bad things".

This paved the way to her anti-West, pro-China, and pro-Russia peepotalking remarks.

5/25 ImageImageImage
Carlos wrote a book review on Mark Gaelotti's "Putin: How the West gets him wrong", in which she commented that "...the theme of this leader [Putin] is not wanting to recreate the former USSR but desiring respect and recognition for his country because it's Russia."

6/25 ImageImage
Two days before 02/24, Carlos labelled Putin as a "master strategist", peepotalking about something like "Putin will not invade Ukraine by going to Kiev contrary to POTUS statements".

Her posts were greeted with pro-Russia peepotalking from ordinary Filipino vatniks.

7/25 ImageImage
Meanwhile, after Carlos' "Putin-is-a-master-strategist" peepotalking remark, she said that "she was called a Russophile", but her post was greeted with more pro-Russia comments.

A term better than "Russophile" is "vatnik". Ermmm....

8/25 ImageImage
On the same day when Russia invaded Ukraine, Carlos, in an interview, spewed more "Russia-will-not-invade-Ukraine" peepotalking when she said something like "the situation in Ukraine will not escalate cuz the war in Ukraine is not in the interests of anyone". Then,...

9/25 Image
...she peepotalked about something like "What Putin doesn't want is NATO missiles installed in Ukraine", parroting Putin's peepotalks when he said "Does the US want Mexico and Canada to be lined with soldiers of the enemy?". Carlos added "he has the right to ask that".

10/25 Image
Carlos, during an interview with SMNI, a news outlet infamous for its connections with Pastor Quiboloy, she claimed that "the West, not Putin created the Ukraine crisis", adding that "since Russia and Ukraine have commonalities, the West failed to understand Putin".

11/25 Image
When Carlos was asked about "Putin asking the West and international community to back off", she claimed that "they [West x IC] have been present at eastern Ukraine since 2014". Then, Carlos said "How long will they push Putin until he takes the nuclear option?",...

12/25 Image
...scolding the West for "pushing and pushing Russia". Carlos quoted Mearsheimer's pro-Russia peepotalking remarks, while saying that "I'm on his side".

Mearsheimer will soon be "souped" by @P_Kallioniemi. Ermmm...

13/25 Image
Carlos claimed that "the Russian state came from Ukraine", telling people who don't believe her to "study history". She claimed that "NATO is dead".

She said "Ukraine is in Russia cuz of the Russian speakers there", accusing the West for "making an issue out of it".

14/25 ImageImageImage
When Russia faced sanctions after Moscow invaded Ukraine in 02/24, Carlos accused the West for "ratcheting up sanctions daily".

Greeted with pro-Russia comments, one commentor shared a video of a discussion involving a vatnik from #vatniksoup, Gonzalo Lira.

15/25 ImageImageImage
One month after Russia invaded Ukraine, Carlos spewed anti-Zelenskyy peepotalking remarks at another SMNI interview when she accused Zelenskyy for "hiring neo-Nasis at Eastern Ukraine", adding that "let us not portray Zelenskyy as if he were the brother of Mother Teresa".

16/25 Image
Meanwhile, Carlos spewed some anti-West whataboutist peepotalking when she said something like "why is there silence when the US invaded Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria, while the world went loud when Ukraine was invaded".

17/25 ImageImageImage
Moreover, Carlos claimed that the US greenlighting of F16s to Ukraine is "deeply concerning".

When Russian forces recently blew up the Kakhovskaya dam at the Kherson Oblast, Carlos called it as a "collision of narratives".

18/25 ImageImageImage
Carlos advised Marcos Jr. to "make the Philippine adapt a neutral stance on the Russo-Ukrainian war", citing Duterte's decision to "befriend Russia" and the need for the "Philippines to get Russian oil".

She also discouraged my country from sanctioning Russia.

19/25 Image
Carlos defended Duterte's pro-China policies, especially the shelving of the 2016 SCS arbitration, when she called them as "pragmatic" and "just right".

She stated that "it's not right to say Duterte was scared".

20/25 Image
Carlos is also known for her pro-China peepotalking remarks, including when she said "we allowed US/Australia a long-term lease in Subic, and why not allow China x Russia to lease Subic too?".

She once recommended a "joint fishing agreement between PH and China".

21/25 ImageImage
Carlos claimed that Pelosi's visit to Taiwan in 2022 "might ratchet up the temperature in the region", indicating that she bought into the "US-provoked-Taiwan" peepotalking remark.

During an interview, Carlos said something like "if the US wants to war with China,...

22/25 ImageImage
...then do it somewhere else". She added "PH is doing the same thing all over again, expecting different results, in provoking China".

She called Huang Xilian a "charming man", parroting his beliefs that "joining the war against Taiwan would affect the OFWs there".

23/25 ImageImage
In 2022, after her long-time professor-ship career, Carlos was eventually disowned by the UP Political Science Department, with her name not appearing anymore in the "record of professors". Speculators pointed to her political views after the 2022 elections.

24/25 ImageImageImageImage
I didn't see any results on Carlos' stance on the Russian war crimes in Ukraine x Uyghur Genocide.

She may look "intelligent" and "kind", but she's a Filipino version of Connie Bakrie, but Carlos is crazier cuz of her controversial remarks like "I am Machiavellian".

APPENDIX: Carlos was present as a keynote speaker at an Association for Philippines-China Understanding seminar, in which Huang spewed the infamous "OFWs in Taiwan" peepotalking remark.

1/2 Image
When Gibo Teodoro became appointed as my country's Defense chief, Carlos suggested that Gibo "change the views of people around him still in a Cold War mindset", indicating a pro-China peepotalking remark.

2/2 Image
APPENDIX: Carlos is also known for her awkward and gaffe-filled rants in social media, including an instance when she told the daughter of a VP candidate from my country's 2022 elections to "write a 5,000-word essay defending your declaration". ImageImageImage
APPENDIX: According to Twitter user @DictatorClass, insider evidence pointed that during Carlos' time at the NSC, her own employees, especially the unqualified ones from her think-tank and the highly-paids, were on the brink of mutiny cuz of how they were treated by Carlos.

1/2 Image
FYI, Carlos is also an executive director of a Filipino think-tank named "StratSearch Foundation, Inc.", in which she commented on local issues in my country like the Sabah issue and the Moro conflict in Mindanao.

2/2 Image
ANOTHER APPENDIX: A memo from Carlos in November 2022 contained her comments on "malevolent elements orchestrating her ouster", including an instance when she received a pick-up truck that broke down after a few days, "malevolent elements" telling top officials...

1/3 Image
...that Carlos is being "pro-China", in which she denied the claims as "lazy intel" while calling herself a "scholar scientist", and an instance when she was accused of "wanting to abolish the NTF-ELCAC", in which she denied the claims.

2/3 Image
Meanwhile, Carlos once praised former US President Donald Trump, claiming that "he is good for the Indo-Pacific region".

Carlos can't get any crazier. I can't wait for Trump to get "souped" by @P_Kallioniemi's #vatniksoup.

In today's #dailysoup, I'll introduce Indonesian activist, politician, and tankie, Budiman Sudjatmiko (@budimandjatmiko).

He's best known his participation in the Indonesian Communist Party and spewing peepotalking remarks favouring Putin's dictatorial regime.

1/24 Image
Budiman started his activist career when he was in secondary school in the midst of the dictatorial regime of Soeharto.

He dropped out of uni in the 1990s to focus on activism, in which he founded the People's Democratic Party in 1996 and led anti-Soeharto rallies.

2/24 Image
Meanwhile, during that time, Indonesian forces created a chart explaining that "Budiman's party is connected with the Philippines' New People's Army with backing from Amnesty International and the Australian Labor Party".

In today's #dailysoup, I'll introduce a former Indonesian ambassador to Russia and Kremlin mouthpiece, Mohamad Wahid Supriyadi.

He is best known for his pro-Russia peepotalking remarks and his encouragement of sanctions evasion in buying Russian jets.

1/21 Image
During the 1990s and 2000s, Supriyadi served in a couple of Indonesian diplomatic posts at Australia and the UAE.

Meanwhile, he also served in various positions at Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then from 2016-20, he became Indonesia's ambassador to Russia.

2/21 Image
However, there was one time in 2002 when Indonesia refused to renew the work visa of Lindsay Murdoch, which was condemned as the "first prohibition of a foreign journo in the post-Soeharo era".

Supriyandi denied that Jakarta's move vs Murdoch would hurt press freedoms.

In today's #dailysoup, I'll introduce a Beijing-based think-tank, the South China Sea Probing Initiative or SCSPI (@SCS_PI).

It's known for providing news on the SCS dispute from China's perspective, which contain mostly pro-China peepotalking and some pro-Russia ones.

1/25 Image
Founded in 2019, the SCSPI is currently headed by Hu Bo from Peking University, along with two other so-called "academics" from prestigious Chinese universities.

One of its members is Anna Malindog-Uy, a Filipino vatnik x wumao who once hosted a Pandesal Forum with them.

2/25 ImageImageImage
In SCSPI's "About me" page, the think-tank claims that "it recognises the strategic relevance of the SCS", "it understands the significance of differences through dialogue", and "it is not affiliated with anything".

However, when we dig deeper, it is a different story.

In today's #dailysoup, I'll introduce a Singaporean television journalist and talk show host, Lily Ong. Her attempts to discuss geopolitics in a Singaporean talk show and radio show contained pro-Russia and pro-China peepotalking.

1/17 Image
Lily Ong spent her education at the Raffles Institution and then took her masterals in IR at the Fletcher School.

She also took her PhD at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, which is run by Russia's MFA headed by the infamous Sergey Lavrov.

2/17 ImageImage
Moreover, Ong indicated that she is a "Track I-II Diplomat" with an experience working with the "US-Russia Mayors' Summit", as well as a "travel-loving geopolitical analyst".

She added that she produces online and television talk shows on "geopolitics and current affairs".

In today's #dailysoup, let's go to #Indonesia as I'll introduce an Indonesian military x defence academic and Putin fangirl, Connie Bakrie. She is known for parroting common pro-China and pro-Russia peepotalking points in her articles, seminars, and soc-med posts.

1/19 Image
From the outside, Bakrie may look like your "ordinary academic". After finishing her doctorate at Universitas Indonesia, she attended two security studies programs at the US x UK before starting her academic career.

From the inside, it is a totally different story.

2/19 Image
Bakrie's husband, Djadja Suparman, once served as one of the key military heads on top of Indonesia's transition of democracy after the fall of Soeharto in 1998.

Suparman was convicted of a corruption case related to a land acquisition scandal in a city south of Surabaya.

In today's #dailysoup, I'll introduce a disputed series of small rocks in the South China Sea, the Scarborough Shoal.

Forming a triangular shape, it is known to be a hotspot for SCS disputes between China and the #Philippines.

1/18 Image
The Scarborough Shoal, known as "Huangyan Dao" in Chinese and "Bajo de Masinloc" in Filipino, is located in the Philippines' EEZ or the West Philippine Sea.

It is also located 340km W of Manila, 575km E of the Paracel Islands, and 523km N of the Spratly Islands.

2/18 ImageImageImageImage
Loads of oil and natural gas, polymetallic nodules and different kinds of sea creatures (e.g. lobster, jack, mackerel, etc.) are present in the Scarborough Shoal.

The shoal is also a major fishing ground for fisherfolk...
