2/ The appeal was filed on eight grounds, including that the prosecution was political, that it violated the US-UK extradition treaty, and that Assange was being prosecuted for protected speech.
3/ Assange already filed his appeal in July 2022. Scandalously, he had to wait almost a year (in detention) to know whether his request to appeal would be granted.
4/🇬🇧 His lawyers have until Tuesday to submit an appeal before the court- their last recourse in the UK.
5/ 🇪🇺 Nevertheless, Assange can still challenge the extradition at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), as confirmed in December, Assange has already submitted an application.
