Some of us were not only abandoned by family, friends, and society, but we were victims of financial and property crimes. No one cares. Not law enforcement, not elected officials, no one. People with LC have zero civil rights despite being protected (on paper) by the #ADA.
And what does society do now, 3+ years later?
Nothing. There is no help. No support.
Sure the Twitter covid-conscious community says all the right things but actual logistical/physical/“real” support?
Nope. We aren’t worth it. To anybody.
They won’t offer to help you by taking out the trash,
But they’ll take your home.
They won’t ask you what you need,
But they’ll steal your car.
They won’t believe you when you tell them you’re disabled,
But they’ll gossip with everyone about the way you are forced to live as a disabled person with zero support.
They’ll abandon you because you’re “different” while pretending to be “liberals” who “care.”
Being disabled by long covid in the United States is like having leprosy in Biblical times. We are not even seen as human anymore by people we have known for decades.
And somehow, it’s our fault.
We deserve it.
Because that makes “healthy” people feel better somehow.
I guarantee there are people with long covid who died in alone in their beds three weeks ago and nobody even noticed.
This is what “society” has become.

Person on twitter:
I’d rather get long covid than wear a mask.
Person w/cognitive issues post-covid: My doctor said it’s not Alzheimer’s so I’m fine.
Person w/25 new health problems post-covid: Long covid isn’t real plus I was vaccinated.
WHO: there is no emergency.
CDC: Covid is over so we’re not collecting data anymore.
POTUS: Covid is over. You can tell because no one is masking.
Doctors: If you’re concerned about a highly transmissible disease that can destroy your entire life you’re clinically insane.
Society: Covid is over, long covid isn’t real, sick people are expendable/insane, disabled people aren’t humans, everything is 💯 fine, & it’s weird that I’ve been sick on and off for two years but it’s probably gluten.
@1goodtern Covid-induced executive function impairment. I will scream that into the covid-addled void until the day I die. I worked in special ed (3 years) and with 7th graders (for an eternity). I have an M.Ed. I know executive function impairment when I fucking see it. It is EVERYWHERE.
“Inadequate human, financial and material resources.”
In other words, humanity’s screwed up system of values (wealth for the elite few = more important than the community) will likely—according to the government of Tanzania—result in the Marburg outbreak getting out of hand.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, “abuse” is defined as “improper treatment.”
Since an individual associated w/@CDCgov is calling other scientists “abusive” bc he’s feeling pouty on Twitter, here is a @1goodtern-inspired thread:
5 Ways the CDC is “Abusive.”
1. They denied covid tests to sick Americans who “hadn’t been to China” in the first few months of 2020. Including me. Which has = fuel/“evidence” for denialist HCWs who “don’t believe long covid exists.”
2. They severely delayed in telling the American public that covid was being spread asymptomatically. In fact, I have found zero evidence they EVER told people. Please add it if you have it.
The biggest issue with solving covid & long covid is certain select self-described “professionals” with fragile egos who make everything ten times more complex bc they can’t play nice with the other kids. We are doing this TO OURSELVES.
