This modern fable of "we can't afford to have children" is trivially refuted by noting that fertility is inversely correlated with income in every western country
You just don't actually want kids and are rationalizing your choice with money
Putting several thousand a month into retirement accounts while not paying down debt and then complaining about the debt is idiotic
Stop saving for retirement and your debt is gone in <5 years
People make choices and then act like a gun was being held to their head
"We need to make $500k to afford the same number of kids as families making $35k" is an argument marshalled by people sleepwalking through their life choices and desperately rationalizing their own dumb behavior
Ngl, it hurts a little when somebody I like blocks me
Usually a woman, and usually because they misunderstand what I'm trying to say
You have to be willing to be misunderstood to poast effectively, but that is often at odds with the demands of social relationships
As it's ever been
In some ways I'm a more authentic version of myself as a pseudonymous twitter account, I made this account to have the conversations that would get me ostracized in my lib IRL social circles
And then I get ostracized anyway, for the same reasons
And the reason women don't understand this is that boys are socialized from birth to suppress and hide their sexual interest in women
And that's a good thing!
You can't have a civilization without some degree of such suppression
The issue is that women used to understand that such restraint was in fact being applied (were even thankful!)
But now the pro-social myth of "of course I'm not imagining bending you over this couch right now" is increasingly accepted at face value as men's actual preference
Astonishing how sanitized the mainstream narrative of the civil rights movement is
All the ridiculous race grifting, all the one-sided violence and rioting, all the purposeful institutional blindness, all that stuff you notice today was just as bad in 1967
When this happened to me I developed intellectual pursuits outside the classroom, read the entire school library sci fi catalog in class, taught myself to code on my TI-83 during math
Low agency whiners: you didn't hold up the next hoop for me to jump through fast enough :'(
