1) Calls out cronyism in how jobs in the Lords are given out.
2) Calls for the size of the House of Lords to be reduced, and points out the absurdity of the whole system.
3) Ratchets up her criticism of the HoL, and states that she will lobby to massively reduce the size of the Lords, limit the term of individual peers, and reduce their power.
4) Goes on a truly epic and very public rant about the sinister forces that have conspired to keep her from entering the HoL.
It's interesting to look at the 6 Tory MPs who've blocked me, and the ridiculous reasons they did so. (I assume that my last interaction with them in each case earned me the block.)
The worst sin of around 200-250 of them is to remain part of a party that's significantly more rightwing than them.
The rest are the troublemakers driving the agenda: pro-Brexit, anti-Covid restrictions, anti-immigration, climate change denial etc.
Because the (large) minority of Tory troublemakers are:
A) Very vocal
B) Incredibly aggressive
C) Deliberately confrontational
D) Driving the agenda
it's all too easy to equate them with the whole of the Tory party.
But most MPs just want to work to help their constituents.
That's reflected in the media coverage they get: for most MPs, that's almost none, except for whatever occasionally makes it into their local press.
But the disgusting takes of the Hardcore Hundredish fill the pages of the national RW press day in day out.
"‘Sold a dream’: migrant workers at children’s care chain left without pay for months"
Despicable criminal behaviour.
Brexit component: many racked up huge debts to come here, unlike EU staff would have pre-Brexit, so were much more vulnerable and lost. theguardian.com/society/2023/j…
Before Brexit: pop across from the EU, wave passport or ID, work. Any problems? You're one discount flight from home. And protected by EU law.
After Brexit: rely on a dodgy chain of intermediaries to secure a scarce visa, expensive flights, etc. Huge debts to nasty people.
And of course...
Before Brexit: you're beholden to nobody because you don't need a visa.
After Brexit: you're beholden to the firm that hired you because they're your visa guarantor.
No matter what Brexiters say, it's never been as easy as "swap EU staff for non-EU staff".
"In a virtual test staged by the US military, an air force drone controlled by AI decided to 'kill' its operator to prevent it from interfering with its efforts to achieve its mission, an official said last month."
Of course, the problem with sufficiently advanced AI is that it will always be able to "outthink" humans. (Note the quotes - it doesn't have to have intelligence in the same way as a human!)
Why? Because it can try millions of things, including stuff we would never think of.
Labour are making a big mistake with their pro-Brexit stance. But the LibDems are missing an opportunity as wide as the ocean.
Why the LD aren't shouting about the failures of Brexit all day every day is beyond me. They have unlimited ammunition. archive.ph/HERRo
Substitute "plans" for "LibDem policy on Brexit" and this Douglas Adams quote from the always hilarious Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy sums things up pretty well...
(Deciding something at Conference doesn't count. That has 0.00% cut-through with ordinary people.)

Starmer: "Every day it isn’t built upon, our European friends and competitors aren’t just eating our lunch – they’re nicking our dinner money as well."
What a way to describe the behaviour of those you claim to want to establish better relations with. express.co.uk/news/politics/…
And here is Keir Starmer himself, merrily promoting that very article in the Express...
