REMARKS DELIVERED BY RT. HON. BARR. SUNDAY CYRIACUS UMEHA AT THE SWEARING IN CEREMONY AS MEMBER OF HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HELD ON 13TH JUNE 2023 AT AGURA HOTELS, ABUJA. #Thread
It is my singular honour and privilege to welcome each and everyone of you to this event.
As you know, few hours ago, I was formally inaugurated as a Member Representing Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly, together with my other colleagues.
No doubt, today marks a historic moment in my life and those of members of my family; and I dare say, you, my friends who have come out here to celebrate with me.
It is indeed a culmination of years of struggle in the quest to improve the welfare of my dear People of Ezeagu N' Udi, who trooped out en masse on 25th February 2023 to vote me in, as their Representative in the National Assembly.
I'm humbled by that large expression of support and as I stand before you today my commitment is that we will never forget the promise we made to our constituents as set out in our Legislative Agenda.
As some of you might be aware, our detractors having failed to heed all good counsel, are in the process of challenging our freely given and divinely-inspired mandate, at the election petition tribunal.
Of course, our Legal Team are rising up to the occasion of that distraction and I want to take this opportunity to commend them for the professionalism and enthusiasm they have exhibited thus far towards defending this mandate.
I have no doubt in my mind that in the end, victory will be ours as our confidence in the judiciary remain unwavering.
Ladies and Gentlemen, today, is not a day for long speeches and I don't intend to bore you with one.
It is rather an indication that the time for labour is here and I'm here to serve, under the abiding grace of God and your support.
I thank you all once again for taking time out of your busy schedules to be here today, and I wish you safe journey to your respective destinations- S.U.

The occasion of Children's Day is an auspicious moment to reflect amongst other things on the welfare and circumstances of a very critical demography of our population: Children. #ChildrensDay
Children are indeed the assurance of the future of our societies and the world at large and the need to be conscious of their welfare and the manner in which they're brought up, have never been more critical.
In order to guarantee a sustainable future for our children, the twin role of the family and the government cannot be overemphasized.
