The NYT's talent for hiring "conservative" columnists who sing for liberals is undeniable:
* Bret Stephens, "Lock Him Up" (Trump is evil, belongs in prison)
* David Brooks (Biden is too great, and Trump too evil, to risk a 3rd party)
* David French (Trump belongs in jail)
There are, of course, some conservatives who think this way. They're mostly in CNN Green Rooms, on the NYT/WPost op-ed pages, and on Pierre Omidyar and Bill Kristol's payroll.
The only NYT columnist with independence is Ross Douthat, and he's very far from a Trump supporter.
What the NYT mostly hires as conservatives are neocons. Almost every major Bush-era neocon is now not only anti-Trump but fully and explicitly anti-GOP, pro-Dem and especially pro-Biden (why?).
That's how the NYT feigns diversity of thought while churning out all liberal dreck.
Listen to this. The key point: the real issue the unified, bipartisan DC class cares about is endless war and the US Security State - that's where trillions are at stake.
And these issues - war and CIA/NSA/DHS abuses - are gone from liberal discourse:
Dems and the GOP will bicker about trans kids, abortion and gun control.
But on the issues where power and wealth are determined - wars, Russia/China, the US Security State - AOC and Paul Ryan have the same views, as do Marco Rubio and Pelosi, and NYT's conservatives and Biden.

Of all the classified leaks from top-level officials (never punished with prison) to low-level employees (who are), by far the worst leaker was Obama's CIA Director David Petraeus. The docs he gave to his mistress included names of covert agents.
One lesson I learned from the Snowden reporting is *everything in DC is marked "top secret." 80% of those docs were banal jokes (how to obtain parking stickers).
The docs Petraeus leaked were the "crown jewels." Comey & Holder gave him a misdemeanor.
Heavy reaction to my interview with @RobertKennedyJr, including Israel, which I of course understand.
But my view of RFK is captured in this exchange: he had long been an establishment Dem radicalized by COVID lies and censorship, making him very open to re-thinking propaganda:
For those asking, I interviewed @marwilliamson in March (also interviewed @VivekGRamaswamy). They all have establishment critiques and then some views that aren't in that category.
But at least the GOP will have debates. The DNC is refusing but must:
"Yes, my MSNBC-watching mom, who loves Nancy Pelosi, takes me every two years to vote for Democrats. But she does it happily and I do it begrudgingly and that's the difference! I watch radical YouTube shows."
I spoke here a bit about the unravelling of the Culture War consensus that was visible in almost every cultural debate: not just same-sex marriage but trans issues as well.
Culture wars played almost no role in the 2016 election. Now they are dominant. It's worth asking why:
It's not just that they've re-purposed the rainbow flag into the symbol for the US war machine: they've also managed to make the Ukraine Flag the central symbol of the Western liberal-left, so you have 21-year-old trans people making CIA arming of Azov their core identity.🌈🏳️⚧️💣
Here the Squad's Rep. @JamaalBowmanNY - the most left-wing part of the US Congress - explaining why he voted to authorize $40b for the CIA and Lockheed "for Ukraine."
Let me know if he understands this war or did it because it's what the left demands:
Brazil's Justice Minister @FlavioDino -- responding to a request from a Brazilian Jewish group to ban Roger Waters from entering Brazil to perform -- says federal police will monitor all of his shows and he'll "be arrested" if he wears "a Nazi uniform":
That Waters is glorifying Nazism is one of the worst, most bad faith bullshit claims I've seen. "The Wall" has been performed for decades as a satire of a deranged fascist leader. It's anti-fascist.
But these nuances don't matter in a censorship state where art is controlled.
The obvious reality is that Waters is one of the world's most prominent critics of Israel and the US/NATO role in the war in Ukraine.
That's fine: you can hate him for those views. But having him criminally prosecuted in multiple countries on the ground he's a Nazi is fascism.
