Random thoughts as I listen to some of #SMX in the background while I work. 🧵
AI is the common denominator. Everybody can do it. The concept of "information gain" will be important. what do you offer above and beyond what AI Can? If you want to win in search, think about it that way.
Also... Verbs. Think about what users are trying to "do" - and build that for them. AI won't take that from you (at least for a while)
search engines may or may not use unlinked mentions in the algorithm - but LLMs will definitely use them in their answers.
Also, AI is just another channel like paid search or the app store or social. It's no longer a funnel, it's a 7-111 style slurpee crazy straw now. adapt your marketing strategy accordingly.
I still don't think generative AI chat bots are the future or the killer app people want. I think super specialized AI where you don't even know it's AI is where we're headed.

more often than not, the "SEO issues" I talk to clients about are really business model issues. You can no longer win in SEO with hacks or quick fixes. Thread...
You can't be a 'worse amazon.' and expect to win. You can't just have a list of products for sale. People go to amazon for that. You need to be an expert. you need to help them decide what to buy and tell them why they need it.
Apple did this really well. In an era where MS was telling us about the MB and GB and MHZ and GHZ of computers, Apple came out and told us what we could do with the computer and how it would make our lives better and why we needed one. You have to do that for your SEO.
