Every bill in this article is good actually, and Senator Nesbitt again confuses what is good for his wealthy donors and what is good for the Michigan economy and its workers.

When he has to choose between the two, he'll pick his donors every time.
"California raised a national alarm when it adopted a narrow definition of who qualifies as an independent contractor."

The national alarm this raised was at Uber headquarters because they were exploiting their drivers. California is one of the largest economies in the world.
"Bills in both chambers (SB 334, HB 4550) would set firm nurse-to-patient ratios for hospitals."

Nolan claims this would lead to bed closures because of a nursing shortage. But you fix a shortage with training and higher pay, not by literally killing people which high ratios do.
"Trial lawyers also stand to benefit from the largesse of Democratic lawmaking with bills (SB 329/HB 4681) to make it easier to sue insurance companies for denied claims, and harder for the insurers to defend themselves."

WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE INSURANCE COMPANIES?!
"A House bill (HB 4035) would require employers to provide a "written good faith estimate" of a new hire's schedule, and mandate two weeks advance notice of a schedule change."
"Republicans dub a package to encourage labor political activism "the most extreme union favors in the country." The proposals basically allow unions to make unlimited political contributions (HB 4234) with minimal reporting."

I look forward to them overturning Citizens United.
"Union membership would be free for workers under a measure (HB 4235) that would allow them to fully deduct their dues, foisting the cost onto taxpayers."

A few weeks ago Republicans complained ending "right to work" makes owners pay for dues.

They should make up their minds.
"Democrats want to permit requiring companies that bid on government construction projects to enter into agreements with unions as a condition of bidding for work (HB 4231)."

And Republicans want construction companies to be able to better exploit the labor of their workers 🤷🏽
"A Senate bill (SB 169) would require public employers to provide to the unions employment and contact information for all employees every 90 days, including their personal phone numbers and home and email addresses."

Nolan's cool with MAGAs demanding lists from schools though.
That last one is relevant because he says hes worried about harassment of the workers, by people who want to get them paid more.

He's not worried about crazy weirdos harassing and threatening teachers though.
"Whistleblower protections would be expanded to cover independent contractors and prospective employees, extend the statute of limitations to two years from 90 days on complaints..."

Okay.
"Employees who file wage and hour complaints can remain anonymous (HB 4394), making it nearly impossible for the employer to mount a defense. That's particularly troublesome since violations of the law would be a felony carrying a two-year jail term and $10,000 fine."

#FAFO 🤷🏽
All of these are good actually, unlike @NolanFinleyDN

I'm at the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District Board meeting.

Guess what the Ottawa Impact whack jobs are upset about on this agenda... Image
#OAISD covers career and technical education through the Career Line Tech Center, Special Education through the Ottawa Area Center, and other non-traditional education paths for Ottawa County.

Multiple school districts in the area benefit from their services.
If you remember me speaking at the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners about my late friend who lived with autism, his teachers and a few of his caregivers were from #OAISD. His parents moved to Holland to access these services.

I'm at the Zeeland Public Schools Board of Education Meeting. Big budget meeting.

The room is overpacked, and my whack job alarm is going off very loud, but ZAAC is also here and they are pretty much heros. Rumor is there will be a book ban chat.

Stay tuned!

There is a second issue on the table that may be driving the majority of people to this meeting. The board is considering having 24 half days on the calendar next year, when most schools have 4-6. They were added as a way to accommodate tea her trainings tied to state funding.
The large amount of half days doesn't seem to have any real defenders. Most people seem to agree students don't learn as well on a half day.

We're drinking if anyone brings up watching a movie in class!

2,000 days ago, a few thousand Michiganders started collecting signatures for a petition to end gerrymandering.

If they handed their petitions in today instead of December 2017, they still would have collected an average of more than 200+ per day or 8+ per hour.

In the very first election after maps were ungerrymandered, our entire legislature both reflected the electorate proportionally and also was controlled by Democrats for the first time in my life.

The new governing trifecta opened up new legislation.

For decades, Republicans had blocked meaningful policy change in Michigan despite mass shootings, catastrophic oil spills, the poisoning of a city's water supply, and access to health care and other critical services across the state.

Why did @wopanthers fire Ryan Lancaster as head wrestling coach? He's been regional coach of the year 2 years in a row, which means he was a contender for state coach of the year twice. He started the girls wrestling program.

The school's reasons are dumb and vague...
The athletic director insists that Ryan didn't win enough. Off the bat, you know they're full of it. I've lived here for decades. Other sports have horrible records without coaching changes. It's a clear cover-up for something politically motivated...
I heard a rumor, and take it with a grain of salt, that the secretary of Mac Bay is dating a guy who wants the job, and there were anonymous letters written to the athletic director saying Coach Lancaster didn't have the juice, despite him clearly delivering the goods...

This first public comment at the #OttawaCBoC meeting is 🔥🔥🔥

Joe Moss wants to stop other elected commissioners to ask permission from him before talking about any topic.
Joe Murray is the grandson of a previous board member. He is upset that Joe Moss and Ottawa Impact are holding a jobs program for their friends and family. He ripps into John Gibbs for being the loser that he is. He is mad about wasting tax dollars. A lot of tax dollars.
Joe Murray calls out the #KallMoss grift. Check the hashtag for the story.

"Redistribution of our property seems to be the primary goal of your board."

Barry County, MI Sheriff Dar Leaf attributes a police officer in Memphis getting shot to "temper tantrums" over what he calls the "situation" in Memphis.

The sheriff whines that it makes it harder for him to hire employees.

Good.

He doesn't even say Tyre Nichols' name.
I think he's calling cops stupid in this one? Or at least the ones that are willing to work for him?

It's a pretty egregious self-own.
Dar Leaf claims, with straight face, to have studied Chinese martial arts and therefore Chinese culture for pretty much his entire life.

Then he makes up some nonsense about the origin of Tiger Kung Fu.
