This thread, which anticipated Liverpool's decline in 2021, was mocked by 'data analysts' and chiefly by one Sam McGuire.

Exactly one year later, an invincible Liverpool were struggling.

If you want an understanding of the gap between true insight and buttoned-up expertise...
I'm not interested in proving anything to anyone but I created this account as a platform to educate the average Joe on Football Twitter—and that education includes the ability to distinguish between those who really have insight into the game and those who talk like they do.
CVs, experience, badges are not enough. Every single industry is populated by also-rans and average Joes doing their bit.

When Graham Potter was with a university side, he was already better than 95% of most managers in the game. Just like with footballers, base profiles are
important. True intelligence translates into football. The smartest man in the world, if he has a love for the game, would be already better than most even if he'd just started learning the game.

Profiles over performance. It's who you are over what you do.
Who you are will eventually influence what you do.

This is a truism in all of life.

It's the saying 'Form is temporary, class is permanent'.

It translates from sports to religion.

Most religions are about what you do, hence human suffering under the weight of those demands.
True religion must transform the nature of the individual before it asks for behavioural changes. You cannot ask Defoe to dribble like Neymar to meet a standard. Defoe must become Neymar to meet those demands.

And when Defoe becomes Neymar, the standard is automatically met.
I believe in objective truth and objective truth must cut across time and matter, across fields and disciplines.

It's hilarious how the entire world believe they must do something to meet a standard from God and obtain heaven.

Tip: to go to heaven, you must be from heaven.
As a little analogy, you don't get to go and live forever in a country if you are not already a citizen of that country.

Behaving like an American while you are from Japan does not get you into Japan.

It's about who you are over what you do.

That is the secret of religion.
Literature, love, the arts... All are the same.

In love, it is about who you are rather than what you do (your money, your privileges, your possessions). Who you are translates into what you do.

For instance, if you were truly an 'Alpha Male', it would reflect naturally in you.
Same goes with women. No posturing will get you the kind of lover you want if you naturally aren't what your lover wants.

A Disney Princess will have her Prince Charming, almost naturally.

In literature, an industry plant would never beat a true master of the craft at writing.
And this all explains why Arsenal want Kai Havertz and why all the top clubs want the same players.

No one cares about form, much. It's all about class. Get the right profile and the performances will follow.

Profiling over performance scouting works in all aspects of life.

When we (the rest of the 18 normal clubs) moan and complain about not winning trophies, we are doing it under the notion of a competitive spirit.

We have allowed Chelsea to gaslight us.

(An Open Call to Arms) Image
Competitive integrity is the basic fabric under which we say anything about trophies.

Chelsea, with their financially doped team under Roman, were allowed into the conversation about trophies under this notion, even though they didn't win anything with a straightforward spirit.
That is the mistake we all made and which we must all rectify.

'Trophies' are only worth what they are worth because of the sweat, blood and earned privilege it takes to win them.

No Forest fan would ever begrudge Arsenal of winning a trophy over them because Arsenal

Basically, what Chelsea, PSG and City do is outbid everyone for trophies as stickers, strut about with their chests puffed and ululate at the guys who have to dig theirs out of the ground.

It's obscene, unconscionable and just flat-out disgusting.

The point is in the digging.
Chapped fingers raised up in sweaty, exhausted victory is the point and the story of the sport.

Buying it is still so novel and strange we genuinely don't know how to react to it.

It's when you buy your 30th straight sticker that it dawns on everybody and everyone just leaves.
Imagine soulless clubs winning every thing there is to win back to back to back in 20 years. Although some fans will move to those clubs, the tangible passion, history and romanticism behind Arsenal, Liverpool, United will not move with them.

And that is when the sport will die.

What Chelsea appear to be doing right now is why I can never respect them or their sporting achievements, all of which is built on financial doping from senior to academy level over two decades.

Any team will win if they are similarly doped. Where is the soul?
If this happened to Arsenal, I would stop supporting the club publicly.

It's a joke. Everyone knows what happens if you give any club that much to spend. No point pretending there's any sporting integrity to it, to rejoice over trophies you won the moment you got juiced.
It's like getting a 2 billion dollar injection for a top flight team on FM and acting triumphant when you win the league and UCL and trying to one-up your supposed rivals and act like you had the same sporting advantage.

Brother.

I've always told you all that we ideally have to move on both Partey and Xhaka this window, what with their contract and age curves.

The only one that could have stayed was Xhaka and he is pushing for the move, so, it's necessary we just do the refresh this summer.
Saudi interest in Thomas Partey is very good for us. Judging by the supposed 55M deal for Neves, we can expect to recoup what we paid for him. With the circa 20M we are getting for Xhaka, that's a sizable amount to be making off two 30 year olds.

Can push us back in for Caicedo.
Rice is the flat-out Partey replacement. He is the best holding midfielder in the game. We are not paying 100M+ for a Xhaka replacement. You pay that for the upgrade on Thomas Partey.

The Xhaka replacement needs to just be good at blocking space and in duels. Almost everyone

From golf to tennis, ballstriking is one of the most discussed aspects of the game, yet, in football no one talks about it or even systematically coaches it at the highest level.

Why is a good kick so mysterious? I explore the answers with a ballstriking expert.

(A Thread) Image
According to Bartel Sylwestrzak, the only full-time ballstriking coach in the game, even the best ball strikers in the game have flawed technique.

Kicking a ball, simple as it sounds, is one of football's great inefficiencies. Image
@guillaumevdwege, who I interviewed, believes that ballstriking is physical, technical and mental. It is not just about kicking a ball!

This explains why it is so mysterious and difficult to get into! Image

Riceido makes too much sense for Arsenal not to do it.

It would be an appalling lack of ambition or vision to not realize the value of having both Rice and Caicedo (24, 21 years old) in the short, medium and long-term future to an ageing, depleted midfield. ImageImage
We have the financial possibility to do it between sales and revenue.

Even if we really didn't, Riceido ensures we don't have to spend money on that part of the team for a while. The cost benefits of permanent, high quality solutions that keeps us competitive for long periods.
So instead of blowing the money on several things, it makes the best sense to permanently solve a big part of what's already a full team so you can focus on others later.

Also, if you wanted sporting guarantees, Riceido is as close to a guarantee of continued title-level quality
