jm crashes after a concert. but its okay, because jk will always be right there.
It’s unusually quiet backstage. There’s not many people around, only six of the members and a couple of managers mulling around and lazing on the couches in the green room. Joonie is standing above him, hand on his hip, and there’s a gentle look in his eyes.
“Minnie, you did good.” He stresses, the rest of the members nodding their heads in unison. “No one is going to notice that your voice cracked, and even if they did, it’s okay.”
Min has his head in his hands, elbows digging into his knees painfully.
“I know that hyung, I still should have done better.”
“We all need to do better, Min.” Jinnie says, mouth full of greenroom snacks, “That doesn’t mean any of us didn’t do well tonight.”
Tae, sitting beside Min, nods too. “You did good, Minnie.”
Minnie feels bad. They had all performed well today, they should be celebrating. But instead, he’s here. Grumpy and bringing down the mood.
“I’m sorry, guys.”
“Why are you sorry?” Yoonie asks.
“We should be celebrating. I don’t want to make anyone miserable.”
Yoonie tuts loudly,
“Shut up, Min. We’re family. You’re allowed to feel disappointed. No one is gonna be mad at you for wanting to do better. You’ll feel much better once you get out of here and go home.”
At that moment, Minnie felt the air in the room shift. The missing member entered the room and immediately took his seat in the empty spot next to Minnie.
Still wearing his sequin jacket, Googie quietly placed a hand on Jimin’s knee, nudging Minnie’s elbow out of the way. He strokes a thumb in small circles, pressure firm, and he stays quiet.
Googie’s entrance didn’t change much in the room. Jinnie is still standing in the corner, feasting on the bowl of candy laid out for them. Yoonie’s eyes are drooping, his body relaxing into the couch as he tries to resist sleep.
Joonie is now seated, left thumb swiping quickly through what Minnie can only presume to be twitter. Taetae’s left knee is jumping up and down as he waits patiently for Hoba to return Yeontan to him, the latter is sitting in the corner with the puppy playing in his lap.
Minnie glances around, becoming more content as the seconds pass on. His eyes flick between each member before finally settling on Googie’s large brown eyes. Googie’s head is cocked slightly to the left, a slight crease apparent in between his eyebrows.
He asks what he needs to with a twitch of his nose. Minnie replies with a flutter of his eyelashes. Googie understands.
Of course he understands. He feels like home; he’ll always understand.

jm and jk are just classmates. that’s all they are and all they’ll ever be. until jk walks jm home one day, and everything changes.
It was late, by the time Googie was packing up his things to leave the campus library. Finals were approaching, and he was stressed.
His friends, who had left hours ago, were proving to be nothing but a distraction to him during the many hours they had spent in the study room he had hired out.
