Quality assessment of studies (or risk of bias assessment) is essential to systematic reviews.
However, it is a very time-consuming process.
I tested AI for the quality assessment of studies, and the results are promising.
Here is my setup and how I did it:
Step 1: Convert your quality assessment tool to a text prompt.
Whether you are using STROBE, CONSORT, AMSTAR, ROBINS-I or any other tool, translate it into a text prompt.
This step is very crucial. See example below:
I used a tool by Default et al., to screen ecological studies and this is how my prompt starts:
"You will do a quality review of this PDF using my provided criteria. Give the score based on each criterion. Also, give me reasons & text sources why you chose each answer".
