Sanctions may not have the immediate effect that most would like, but they are achieving their objectives:

✅ degrade Russia's military capability
✅ deprive the Kremlin from revenues
✅ impose costs on Russia's economy

Here is our new package of sanctions ↓ #StandWithUkraine
The new package introduces a new anti-circumvention tool.

It will allow the EU to restrict the sale, supply, transfer or export of specified sanctioned goods and technology to certain third countries whose jurisdictions are at high risk of circumvention.

#StandWithUkraine
New entities are subject to tighter export restrictions for advanced technology items.

In addition to the Russian and Iranian entities already listed, this now also covers entities from China, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, Syria and Armenia.

#StandWithUkraine
We keep adding new export restrictions on technological items found on the battlefield that contribute to Russia’s military capabilities and technological enhancement.

This is based on information received from Ukraine, EU countries and our partners.

#StandWithUkraine
New restrictions on export of luxury cars, electric and hybrid vehicles.

We also introduce a full ban on certain types of machinery components that can be easily redirected to be used to support the Russian war effort.

#StandWithUkraine
Prohibition to trade property rights and trade secrets that could help Russia to manufacture goods outside the EU.

#StandWithUkraine
Germany and Poland will not have possibility to import Russian oil by pipeline.

We introduce very targeted derogations to export bans to enable the maintenance of the Caspian Pipeline which transports Kazakh oil to the EU through Russia.

#StandWithUkraine
New transport restrictions have been introduced to clamp down on the circumvention of the prohibition for Russian freight road operators to carry good to the EU.

Also a prohibition to access EU ports for vessels not compliant with the new measures.

#StandWithUkraine
Today’s package contains new listings of individuals and entities including Russian decision-makers and military leaders complicit in the war against Ukraine.

The list also includes key figures involved in the kidnapping of Ukrainian children to Russia.

#StandWithUkraine
The new package of sanctions also imposes an extension of the media ban to 5 additional channels, and additional provisions on information exchange and reporting.

We want medicine to be more accessible, available, and affordable.

Our #EUPharmaStrategy legislative reform proposes a single market of medicines that:

🔸 is patient-centric
🔹 fosters innovation
🔸 fights antimicrobial resistance
🔹 is environmentally friendly ↓

#HealthUnion
Patients across the EU deserve timely access to high quality, affordable medicines.

We are proposing a modern regulatory framework & industry incentives to make unmet medical needs and shortages of critical medicines a thing of the past.

Antimicrobial resistance causes 35,000 deaths per year in the EU.

AMR occurs when antimicrobials stop being effective due to overuse & misuse.

We have to ensure that antimicrobials are innovative, more widely available & used prudently.

Today we propose new economic governance rules.

The aim is to strengthen public debt sustainability and promote sustainable and inclusive growth.

@VDombrovskis @PaoloGentiloni Stronger national ownership

National medium-term fiscal-structural plans are the cornerstone of our proposals.

EU countries will have greater leeway in setting their own fiscal adjustment paths and reform and investment commitments. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Simpler rules

For EU countries with a deficit above 3% of GDP or public debt above 60% of GDP, we will issue a country-specific “technical trajectory”.

It will be covering four key pillars ↓

The new Net-Zero Industry Act will identify clear goals for European clean tech by 2030.

We will simplify processes for new production sites and Important Projects of Common European Interest.

For the medium term, we will prepare a European Sovereignty Fund.
