Thread: Some Thoughts On Privacy, Defi, And Adoption
🧵
Encrypting important information has been a concern of us humans since the dawn of written history...
1/x
The Spartan's scytale devices, Da Vinci's cryptex, James Jay's invisble ink in the Revolutionary War...
All of these are historical antecedents of what we see in crypto today, so far most notably via innovations such as Monero, Tornado Cash, etc.

I believe in the importance of privacy in financial transactions from an idealistic/ideological point of view, but in this thread I want to talk about the nexus between privacy and adoption, which are not two concepts one typically hears discussed together.
3/x
As he states in the article:
"Without [privacy] Ethereum fails because having all transactions (and POAPs, etc) available publicly for literally anyone to see is far too high a privacy sacrifice for many users..."
6/x
The easiest example of the above for most of us is the desire of on-chain traders/investors to have at least some measure of privacy.
Certainly we have many 'high-profile' traders/whales/etc in defi, but it is understandable if not everyone wants to replicate such a path.
7/x
The rise of privacy solutions within defi will also aid in on-chain adoption because it means people will become less reliant on cex's, which currently serve as 'mixer stand-ins' to some extent, as a roundabout way to obfuscate wallet trails.
10/x
In my opinion though, the most significant effect of increased on-chain privacy preservation will be to facilliate the migration of more 'traditional business' on-chain.
And by this I mean stuff like AP/AR, payroll, balance sheet management, accounting, etc.
11/x
However, most businesses do not want all their transactions public for all to see.
As a result, significant amounts of normal business financial operations won't successfully be migrated on-chain until there are better options for maintaining privacy.
13/x
Likewise, while there has been definite success in using on-chain rails for small everyday transactions (coffee, lunch, etc), it seems clear that privacy-preserving mechanisms will make such 'everyday use' far more palatable for your average person.
14/x
Conclusion:
A framework for allowing users to natively utilize the EVM in a manner that affords privacy is a big (and ambitious) leap forward.
It also seems to be one of the final keys that can finally unlock widespread adoption of on-chain rails...

Appreciate you reading gud friends!

Many do not know but defi legend @CurveCap is now hosting general all-purpose defi livestreams on @leviathan_news!
Grabbed a clip of him explaining below and HIGHLY recommend you subscribe to these both on here + YT!
If you want to know why $MNT is doing so well lately, my good friends @DeFi_Dad and @Nomaticcap did an extremely interesting Mantle-focused interview with @tx0zz and @ngyingzhong:
Reminder that for those of you exploring Sonic and stacking your points and gems, there's a bunch of cool stuff you can do via @vertex_protocol, which is currently being utilized for a number of gigabrain Sonic yield-maxxing opportunities :)
Will break these down below:

With the 180* turnaround in regulatory/political environment, I firmly believe we are on the cusp of an absolute defi renaissance...
And there are few projects more emblematic of this and more poised to benefit than @maplefinance.

As background, Maple was founded by gigabrain savants @syrupsid and @joe_defi.
They saw the superiority of blockchain-based financial rails very early, and launched Maple as a result.
Here is a recent appearance by @syrupsid on CNBC:

Originally an undercollateralized lending protocol on Solana and Ethereum last cycle...
Maple essentially did the same thing as $PENDLE during the bear market, using it as a chance to regroup and become more robust, and pivoted their focus to institutional + defi yields.
Thread: The Truth About Depression (And How To Overcome It)

The entire modern discourse around depression is flawed and counterproductive...
And untold people suffer immensely as a result...

I've had a number of dudes request my thoughts on this subject...
So in this thread I am going to break down what I believe are the actual components of this epidemic of depression...
As well as my thoughts on how to overcome it...

The exact combination of these contributing factors may differ from person to person...
Some are distinct to the modern world we live in, while others are as old as time itself, and something we as humans have always dealt with in one way or another...
