This one is from Onym's list. OneLook thesaurus and dictionary are my most frequently used tools when naming. It helps with namestorming and coming up with out-of-the-box words, themes, and ideas
3. @MyFonts's WhatTheFont
I often come across typography in the wild that could be a good jumping off point for a wordmark/brand typeface. WhatTheFont helps find similar-ish fonts for purchase. All you have to do is take a photo / screenshot and upload.
Phase 1: Discovery and Brand Positioning includes:
- A project starter kit for the client to fill out
- Kickoff call
- Research (review documents, brand & industry audit)
- Stakeholder / audience interviews
- Brand workshop(s)
- Development of brand positioning
- Refinement
Phase 2: Brand Identity includes:
- 2-3 brand identity directions that consider messaging, logo, color, typography, imagery, and motifs applied to 5-10 sample touchpoints
- Refinement of one direction (typically 1-2 revision rounds)
- Brand guidelines
- Brand asset folder / file
A thread of brand designs I created that never saw the light of day 🪦:
1. StockX Brand Refresh (2019). One of the first projects I worked on after going full-time freelance. I really loved this brand direction. We ended up moving forward with a direction closer to their existing brand.
2. Storyworth (2022). I love where we landed with the final brand but I still liked this totally different early direction. Work done with @daniellelaroy and Paladar Studio.
