In 2022, Hollywood made $7,320,000,000 through storytelling.

99% of the movies used the same story framework.

Here’s a breakdown (including clips from your favorites):
Introduction:

Show the character & their world:

Open loops to capture and maintain attention.

Without loops, your story will fall flat. The Intro in the make-or-break moment.
Conflict:

The conflict puts the story in motion.

It propels the main character into taking action.

The conflict always:

•Introduces a problem
•Creates empathy with the hero
•Leaves the audience on the edge of their seats
First turning point:

The hero makes a decision that puts them in uncharted territory.

This raises the stakes & creates uncertainty.

Answer:

•What will happen?
•Where will the hero go?
•What problems will the hero encounter?
Midpoint:

This is where a major shift happens.

It's either the hero's success or failure.

A revelation happens.

The heroes:

•Point of view shifts
•Begins a transformation
•Receives support from outside sources
Second turning point:

Another significant event happens:

•Failure
•Obstacles
•Death of a character

The second turning point highlights what the hero has to do to achieve the final goal.
Climax:

This is the peak problem of the story.

The culmination of subplots forms one big gang.

This is where the hero becomes tested:
Resolution:

This is where the conflict is solved.

Determine whether the resolution is happy or sad.

Ending on a positive note will leave a better impression on your audience.
TLDR:

Intro - Up
Conflict - No Country For Old Men
First Turning Point - Romeo + Juliet (1996)
Midpoint - From Dusk til Dawn
Second turning point - The Dark Knight
Climax - Lord of the Rings (Return of the King)
Resolution - The Martian

I'm American.

I just revisited my home country after moving abroad 2 years ago.

What I saw shocked me.

13 American oddities I still can't believe: Image
1. The prescription drug advertisement paradox

Every other TV commercial promotes prescription medications.

Which all have cheerful people frolicking in fields while a rapid-fire voiceover lists all lethal side effects.

Almost nowhere else in the world allows direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical advertising.

Wtf?
2. Eating out costs a fortune

I took my Mom to breakfast.

•Coffee
•2 omellettes
•Side of pancakes and hashbrowns
Cost $50 not including the tip.

I can’t believe people pay so much for mediocre food.

Even fast food is pricey Image

I'm American.

Last year I moved to Brazil.

What I’ve seen shocked me.

10 crazy Brazilian experiences I still can’t wrap my head around: Image
I love coffee.

So that means I’m a slave to the coffee machine.

Most Brazilians don’t use coffee machines.

They keep it old school and pour hot water into a filter with the coffee grounds.

This used to drive me crazy because I wanted coffee ASAP.

But now I enjoy the smell and process.

Slowing down makes you grateful for the little things.
Outdoor living:

I fell in love with how “open” the houses are.

In North America, homes are closed due to cold weather.

In Brazil many of the houses have a huge open area in the middle.

Or a big outdoor patio in the center of the house.

It makes enjoying the sunshine easy.

And what’s better than that?Image

Comedians are the best storytellers.

But few people know this…

Here are 5 easy tricks comedians use to make your stories funny (with examples):
The easiest way to get attention:

Relatable setups.

Comedians start with common experiences.

• Find humor in struggles
• Use everyday moments
• Use relatable feelings from experiences.

Here are some examples:
Relatable set up examples to get attention (fast):

Ever notice how everyone's brave until they see a spider?

We've all been there: choosing a password that's 'strong' but forgetting it the next day

Who else has pretended to text in awkward social situations?

Fun right?
