Napoleon is admired in France. That makes sense.

But he's also celebrated by the media and academics in America. More than other historical figures.

Can you guess why?
He crowned himself Emperor

He didn't believe in free trade

He didn't believe in democracy

He reinstated slavery

He instituted top-down legal code.

Sounds like he is the opposite of what America stands for.

Why does every American grow up being bombarded by messages that… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
That's a lot of books

There are a lot of historical figures to write about. History filled with great men and women. Image

People enjoy Art Deco because it was part of an evolution. A continuity from what came before it. It's slightly different but in the same tradition. It includes dimensions, color, finishes, ornamental, motif, details, etc.

What came after Art Deco was not an evolution. It was a… https://t.co/gK9cZMaaqxtwitter.com/i/web/status/1…
If we want to make Architecture good again. We have to start back in Art Deco and evolve from there.
You can even see this with clothes.

A man looks good in a suit. He looks better in a suit then he does in shorts and a t shirt

Why?

Because if you look at mens attire from the 19th, 18th and 17th century you can see an earlier version of a suit. Collars, buttons, vests,… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Hollywood has been mediocre for awhile now and it doesn't look like it's going to turn around anytime soon.

It may be finally time to say goodbye for now.

It's been years now where the big box office films have been rehashed intellectual property, sequels, or teenager genre that pretends to be adult.

I think that's enough for me.

The good news is we have 80 years of good films to view when we want to peek into good cinema

Good films do come out sometimes. It's not all bad. But those are the exception at this point.

Meanwhile, pick any year in the 20th century and you'll get a collection of very good films from a variety of genres.

Films cost so much money to make, need to make so much money… https://t.co/LcNrQJj5CKtwitter.com/i/web/status/1…

It's 2023 and we still haven't solved the Exercise problem. The mismatch between our environment and our body.

The number of people who regularly exercise is still low and 90 percent of people hate doing it.

Apple, one of the biggest and most visionary companies in the world recently announced their first product in 10 years. Goggles. Screens in front of your eyeballs. Ok. I'm sure it'll be good.

But it isn't a real problem that we're solving.

There's gyms on every corner, the television ads have athletes. You'd assume everyone is exercising. Wrong

Only about 20-30 percent of Americans get minimum government required exercise. And since it's the government saying this, we probably need more.

Of those 20-30 percent,… twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image

Kids grow up in ghettos and warzone and Brazilian favelas with chaos and trauma and turn out ok.

But some psychologist is gonna break you? Ok.
If a traumatic environment caused everyone to become murderers we wouldn't have society today. Everyone would be dead.

Do you know how much war and violence there has been?

Thankfully the human is antifragile and can even grow through trauma.

If the goggles replace monitors laptops and some big TV screens it may be a positive development

if the goggles replace smartphones it will be a disaster for our shared commons

We gave up on trying to integrate technology in our homes. They just stick out and act like alien spaceships Image
When technology was originally introduced the companies had to make them look like nice furniture. They had to blend in with the home. People wouldn't buy them if they didn't. The home is its own domain.
