Day 2: Alissa Azar Trial - The violent leader of Portland Antifa accused of felony riot
Prosecution argues a strong case - Bombshell video evidence reveals Alissa Azar participated in a riot alongside Rose City Antifa, who allegedly brought homemade explosive devices to their violent direct action.
Azar claims to be a "journalist" but evidence shows she assisted in organizing the riot that "caused grave public harm." 🧵
The prosecutor arguing the case is Deputy District Attorney Josh Cutino, one of the state’s best prosecutors.
He submitted damning evidence that eviscerated Azar's narrative that she was a "journalist" acting in "self-defense" that day.
CASE FACTS
On June 18, 2021, Antifa militants organized to violently attack a right-wing voter registration event at Clackamette Park in Oregon City.
The organizers of the right-wing event reserved the park shelter for 4 pm.
Portland Antifa issued a call-to-action to disrupt the event, and arrived at the park around 2 pm with weapons, riot gear, shields, chemical sprays, etc.
Antifa came to the park with the sole intention to fight and caused grave public harm, Cutino argued.
In response to Antifa's planned disruption, the Proud Boys mobilized to thwart Antifa from attacking conservatives at the event.
Antifa militants arrived at the park before the right-wing group and took over the shelter they had reserved.
Antifa formed a militant line surrounding the shelter, armed with weapons, riot gear, etc.
An extremely violent brawl broke out between Antifa and the Proud Boys, which was declared a riot by police.
Defendant Alissa Azar posted Antifa's counter demonstration online and actively participated in the riot by launching an unprovoked mace attack.
Azar is on trial for felony riot, disorderly conduct, and unlawful use of mace.
BREAKING: This is the trial of Alissa Azar - the violent leader of Portland Antifa
She is on trial for felony riot related to an alleged unprovoked attack she carried out during a violent Antifa riot in 2021.
TPM’s @KatieDaviscourt is reporting from the courtroom🧵
Alissa E Azar is Rose City Antifa's most well-known member. She portrays herself as a "journalist," yet she has a lengthy history of participating in the group's far-left extremism.
Azar faces multiple charges, including felony riot, disorderly conduct, and unlawful use of mace.
The trial is taking place in Clackamas County, Ore., a conservative-leaning county outside of Portland that does not tolerate political violence.
Commissioner @BenforOregon told TPM: "We're a law and order county and we will not tolerate political extremism."
In San Francisco's Balboa High School, students donned keffiyehs and marched through the halls with clenched fists, screaming the same slogan: “Free Palestine” and “From the river to the sea Palestine will be free.”
These students did not come to these views on their own, instead they have been fed a steady diet of anti-semitism and a hatred of Christian values in their schools, from their teachers, and in their textbooks.
DAY TWO: Part One - Trial of Andy Ngo vs. Rose City Antifa, et al
@MrAndyNgo testifies, Antifa disrupts court proceedings, and Judge threatens to hold individuals in contempt of court 🧵 https://t.co/MW6eVhHzhvtwitter.com/i/web/status/1…
On Wednesday, the trial began with the Judge hearing safety concerns from Ngo's legal team. These concerns regard alleged threats of violence issued on Twitter involving @RisingPDX.
The plaintiff's claim that Richter, one of the defendants, has alleged ties to that account.
Furthermore, concerns were raised about how that account went on "private mode" after Ngo's legal team brought up the threats to the court.
Defendant Richter allegedly has a close relationship w/ the owner of that account, in which she allegedly admitted during her deposition.
