Literature reviews take a lot of time and effort.

Here's a new Consensus+Zotero workflow to supercharge your literature review.

You can learn this workflow in 15 min: twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Go to consensus(dot)app and sign up for a free account.
This is how your Consensus homepage would like.

Type in your research question in the search bar and press enter.
Consensus will give you a list of papers related to your research question. It will also give you short summaries of those research papers.

Consensus will also show you if a paper is highly cited or not, if it's a systematic review, or if it's a randomized controlled trial.

If you think a paper is relevant to your project, click on it and Consensus will give you its abstract.
Read the abstract of the paper and then select "Save."

Consensus will open its List menu for you. Select "My Favorites" and then "Save."
If you ask a Yes/No question, Consensus can also give you a summary of the top ten papers and the consensus of the scientific community about the question.

So you want to cite a paper, but what if some of the sources in that paper have been retracted or disputed 🤔

How would you find that?

One way is to read all the sources cited in the paper. This will take you a lot of time and effort.

Another way is to use Scite.
Go to scite(dot)ai, scroll down a bit, and upload the paper you want to check.

(Please note that Scite requires a paid subscription.)
And Scite will show you if any of the sources in the paper have been retrarcted.

This will save you a lot of time and effort.

The skill that helped me make $150,000 in 6 months: reading.

Most people think they can read but all they do is recite and pronounce words. Reading is much more than that.

Here are my five tips that will help you improve your reading skills: twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
1. Read a text on its own terms

Every book, article, blog, or tweet is written on certain terms. The problem is these terms are almost always hidden because they are based on an author's assumptions.

Based on these assumptions, the author presents a worldview in their work. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Most people impose their own worldview on what they are reading.

Instead of understanding the author's worldview, they want the author to agree with them.

If their worldview matches with the author's they feel happy. If it doesn't they think the book or tweet is bad.

Problem: If you read papers in a normal PDF reader like Adobe's, and you have to look at references while reading, you'll have to scroll all the way down.

To resume your reading, you'll have to scroll all the way up 😫

Solution: Macro PDF reader

🔗 https://t.co/81GHC7TiDT https://t.co/fRMeFmYBZXmacro.com
twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
In Macro, you can open multiple pages of the same document in different tabs, sort of like your web browser.

To do so, click on the tabs button in the top-right corner and now you can open different pages in different tabs.

No more scrolling up and down.
If a paper is formatted in LaTeX, you can click on a footnote and Macro will open up the reference for you. Very convenient and efficient.

This photo of 52 books is circulating on Twitter.

I have a PhD in literature with a focus on literary genres.

Here's my take as a literary scholar:

Read any one of these and you'll have read them all.

They're all the same. https://t.co/lioe2WvtNYtwitter.com/i/web/status/1…
A photo of 52 self-help books.
These books belong to the genre of self-help. If you go to a bookshop, you will find all these books on the same shelf.

Like any literary genre, self-help books follow a predictable formula.
Think of it this way:

When a reader starts reading a muder mystery, they already know the ending, that the murder will be solved.

This is the case with every single murder mystery.

Having the mystery solved at the end is the convention of the genre.

Microsoft and Meta partnered to release Llama 2 — an open-source large language model like ChatGPT.

To use it, you have to download something called a "checkpoint." This needs a skillset many people don't have.

Here's how you can skip these steps and start using Llama-2 today: https://t.co/LjLoXR0iSLtwitter.com/i/web/status/1…
