Would love more women to weigh in on this……

We tried this and our marriage broke.

He made more money when we had kids so I was the one to quit and stay home.

But I went crazy staying home all day with a baby when I was used to leading teams, creating campaigns and more.… https://t.co/6ZqAcA7wx7twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Do you dread weekends as a parent?

Feel the struggle of balancing
- alone time
- time with kids
- time with partner
- being “adult” productive (getting non work things done)?

After 10 years as a parent and 6 years as a single mom I’ve figured it out…..feel free to steal. ⬇️
Saturdays are for adventure
Sundays are for relaxation

We separate the two so everyone knows what to expect.

But let’s break down what this means ⬇️
Saturday

Early Morning:

7-9am
Chill time for kids

Productive time for me (i usually try to send whatever emails or organize anything I want at this time)

9:30
Out the door

"There was no launch strategy because there is no mission or vision"

Ok....let's try this out.

Creating a brand strategy for X using a CMO approach.
Start with functional benefits - "what does the product do"

- Unlimited interactivity (share and receive thoughts)
- audio
- video
- messaging
- payments
- marketplace for goods, ideas, services

Then add emotional benefits:

"What does the product make me feel"

- less alone
- connected
- successful / smarter
- tech savvy
- innovative
- a pioneer

I’m working across 4 companies of varying sizes at the moment

Here are the most common causes of friction I see and how you can prevent them….
Clear strategic vision

With a clear understanding of where the company is headed (repeated over and over in every meeting), decisions can made at every level without the CEO in the room.

The teams have the destination and can figure out the best way to get there.
Clear brand strategy and positioning

Without an understanding of you WHY - communicated and understood across every department - you will become a bag of features.

No one is buying features.

Personal OKRs help me set intentions with realistic / quantifiable milestones.

I believe I will make progress on a larger goal (objective) by hitting these (key results)

Sharing my process and 2023 OKRs below. ⬇️

🧵/
Step 1: Assess & Define Pillars

These change year to year (last 2 yrs were about stability & joy)

I journal this prompt to find themes “what do I want to be proud of this time next year?”

My 5 pillars for 2022:
- MIND
- BODY
- RELATIONSHIPS
- BUSINESS/FINANCES
- ADVENTURE
Things NOT to do when setting OKRs

- generalizations (“workout more”)
- setting key results that don’t tie to the objective (ex: loving my body is NOT measured by the # on the scale)
- setting unrealistic / unattainable KRs
- not setting up accountability

Practical Tips For Working Parents during the holidays.
Hire a Taskrabbit to wrap your gifts during the day.

$25 an hour for 4 hours and your sanity is probably worth it.
Get s-elfish

Don't forget to take one day off and ensure you are putting on your own holiday oxygen mask so you aren't just "going through the motions" and actually in the headspace to be present for the moments.
