I'm watching the SW SPS "System of Well-Resourced Schools" meeting in the other window, not expecting to hear much different. We're getting fewer camera angles this evening. I love how Bev is Dr. Jones' hype man in these sessions.
There are possibly folks wearing shirts advocating for saving their schools at this meeting? Jones made an allusion to them in his speech, said there was no plan to consolidate any schools currently [right now. at this exact second.]
Back to the first focus question of "What are your favorite things about your students' school buildings?"
Themes: renovated buildings, open space/green space for students, student work up on the walls, culturally responsive on the interiors, value having schools in our neighborhoods, safety, and having community resource spaces in the buildings.
(apparently nobody said parking...)
Second Question: "How could we make resources and/or services at our schools stronger?"
Here you go @exante_me
I’m behind but watching the feed at 1.75x speed now
Themes: counselors, mental health supports, family resources, translators, community connections, having support services teams in classrooms, restorative justice support, meals but even more so after school and on weekends.
On to the third question: “Academic and extracurricular programs - what kinds of programs do you/your student value the most and why?”
Topic 3 themes: clubs, more student choice informing what the clubs are offered, more art music and athletics across all schools in the city, career and tech Ed programs more real world experience especially tech ind., librarians at every school, every school has art and music,…
…and time and space for more community events at schools.
(Sorry juggling my kiddos missing me after being in office most of the day)
And Bev is closing out. Unless there are any differences, I say GOODNIGHT.
@exante_me @EddieLin19 (I say that because I think it would make her laugh.)
