Some Senator from Colorado just proposed a bill to give half a billion dollars a year to a new federal commission tasked with censoring the internet and social media.

It’s about as un-American as it can be.

let’s take a look:

1/9 https://t.co/k4EDC0ml3Z
Image
“(b) PURPOSES OF COMMISSION. The purpose of the Commission is to regulate digital platforms, consistent with the public interest, convenience, and necessity…”

Not even trying to hide it!

2/9 Image
lol they want their own digital Stasi

“(3) USE OF VOLUNTEERS TO MONITOR VIOLATIONS RELATING TO
ONLINE SERVICES… for purposes of monitoring violations of any provision of this Act (and of any regulation prescribed by the Commission under this Act),”

3/9 Image
Look, we get it, you hate JavaScript… but this seems a bit extreme.

fr this is nuts:

“The Commission shall establish a Code Council that shall develop proposed voluntary or enforceable behavioral codes, technical standards, or other policies for digital platforms…”

4/9 Image
If you thought “too big to fail” was bad for the finance industry, let me introduce you to

“SEC. 10. SYSTEMICALLY IMPORTANT DIGITAL PLATFORMS.”

5/9 Image
DONT WORRY THEY’LL [likely] HAVE FISA ACCESS

“INTER-AGENCY SUPPORT.”

TLDR it’s back-door access to every tool of the intelligence community, IRS, DOJ, FBI…

what could go wrong

6/9 Image
They should call it “The @elonmusk better watch out” Commission:

“The Commission may inquire into the management of the business of digital platforms … and … management is conducted and as to technical and business developments in the provision of online services.”

7/9 Image
Budget!

A cool hundred mil in year one, quickly getting to half a billion in year 5!

And who says the government doesn’t understand startups! This is a really solid growth curve.

8/9 Image
There’s more, drop your screen caps below.

And please. Call your Senator:

I coordinated U.S. supply chain policy when I was on the National Security Council (2017-2021).

And from where I stand, the time is about right for a daring Governor to create an AMERICAN MANUFACTURING HUB to rival those in Asia.

Here’s a simple roadmap:

1/8
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION:

Want to build a new world-class manufacturing hub? You need power and water.

I like nuclear, it’s cheap and “GREEN.”

Next, access to 🚛 🚛 🚛 and ✈️ ✈️ ✈️.

BONUS: close to a rocket launch facility. You’ll thank me in 2030. So will
@elonmusk!

2/8
WORKFORCE:

To revolutionize American manufacturing, you’ll need PEOPLE.

Just ask @EnesKanter - slave barracks and forced child labor isn’t the American Way.

Find a major metropolitan area, with at least one top tier University or Community College nearby. #UATX perhaps?

In my four years on the National Security Council, I interviewed over one hundred people who wanted to join my team.

And I only ever used ONE interview question.

A thread, on how to hire for the most EXTREME cognitive circumstances.

1/
Working on the National Security Council is, for many, the apex of a career in national security.

For me, coming from Silicon Valley, it was an accident.

Former military, I could blend in at the White House. But wasn't a policy wonk.

Just someone who could get stuff done.

2/
So instead of asking about degrees or professional awards, the _only_ thing I cared about was OUTCOMES.

Why?

The purpose of the NSC Staff is to coordinate the entire US national security apparatus to EXECUTE THE PRESIDENT'S PRIORITIES.

That's it.

Wondering where your friendly, neighborhood, controlled opposition talking head comes from?

Sit right down, anon and get ready for

AMERICAN INFLUENCE 204: CREATING A PUNDIT OUT OF THIN AIR

1/12
You have certainly seen them.

You might have even read their books, listened to their podcasts, or watched a video of them on You Tube.

But where did that novel media "personality," who just so happen to tut-tut at your slightly-out-of-the-mainstream ideas, come from?

2/12
Well anon, it turns out that creating an "expert" out of thin air is RELATIVELY CHEAP.

Here's how:

STEP ONE: Get them CREDENTIALED.

Humans are TOOL-USERS, and one of our best tools is the use of *shortcuts*. Why think when...

HARVARD =smart
VETERAN =brave
... and so on

Lots of talk this week on what constitutes a “win.”

Most of it defeatist.

“Oh but this will just make it…”
“It would have been better if…”

This attitude is INSANE.

Having engaged in high-stakes IRL competition, here are some lessons learned on why

WINNING IS WINNING.

1/
TIME PREFERENCE.

TACTICAL and STRATEGIC wins are RADICALLY different.

99% of wins are TACTICAL. Unless the adversary is generationally discredited, your win is a SMALL piece if a larger STRATEGIC effort.

Don’t conflate the two.

Take a breather and GET BACK IN THE FIGHT.

2/
OPERATIONAL RESET.

Every win in some way reshapes the strategic landscape — almost always in favor of the victor.

Pause and reflect on HOW.

If you can observe and re-orient FASTER than the adversary YOU HAVE THE ADVANTAGE FOR YOUR NEXT MOVE.

Chose wisely.

Act fiercely.

They said it couldn’t be done.

American manufacturing was over.

And yet, six years ago, a small group of us at the White House, including @RealPNavarro, @SecretaryRoss, Robert Lighthizer, Karen Kelley, Matt Pottinger, myself, and others, disagreed.

THIS IS OUR STORY

1/
At the time, I was the “Senior Director for Cyber” on the National Security Council.

I coordinated our nation’s cyber policy. But over time, I was also put in charge of telecom policy, and supply chain policy.

BIG DEBATES WERE AFOOT.

2/
The biggest fight was over telecom networks. Specifically, Huwei (as Secretary Ross called them), which was using Communist Party Financing financing to take over as many telecom networks as they could, worldwide.

They were even making inroads in America.

Startup Founder 101 short course on building funnels for sales and marketing:

HOW I USE @journeyio to help @GalvanickCo with sales and marketing:

1/6
For those unfamiliar, Journey is a storytelling platform, but really it is a next generation multi-media data environment.

Any file. Any link. Beautifully organized.

So far I have used it to create funnels.

Not sure what those are? Read this: marketingsherpa.com/article/case-s…

2/
Right now the most effective "funnel" I am running is via the @GalvanickCo profile link, which goes right to:

galvanick.journey.io/p/2023Welcome

It contains a video I put out on Twitter and Substack, four monthly "update" videos (also cross posted to twitter), interviews, etc.
