Aviation laws are handled at the Federal level, and are taken seriously—especially after 9/11.
Once the doors of an aircraft are closed, and the plane has departed from the gate, it is considered “in air”.

Finally, based on the two videos, I have another hypothesis:
What if Tiffany saw something on the plane that made her think it was not safe to fly—in need of repair? The “MF that is not real” could be a part of the aircraft, itself?
