I’m watching the NE Well-Resourced Schools meeting.
Bev is speaking her normal speech. She said she saw 3 board members.
Hype-man Bev: "If Seattle schools could make him superintendent think of what it could do for our kids" [not verbatim]
Dr. Jones is getting clearer with connecting these conversations with the budget. Still not owning up to the potential of closing schools for 24-25 tho.
First Q “What are your favorite things about your school building?”
SPS TV catch Hampson, Rankin, Redmond, and Jones all sitting at a table together while the tables are in conversation.
I’m sorry, but that just really makes me upset. They are here to hear from folks, are they not?
GO JOIN A TABLE OR THREE GODDAMN!
It looks crowded.
Shout out to mom in the Rat City Roller Girls shirt.
I still haven’t found @cruickshank boooo
@cruickshank While we are waiting, did I tell you friends I imagined I heard the damn SPS theme music while at the Columbia Center Tower for lunch? Yeah this is going to be a long year.
@cruickshank Themes: The idea that people like a mix of old and new buildings, schools being in the neighborhoods and walkable to students, outdoor garden spaces and green spaces, performance spaces for sports arts etc, student work in the schools, art up on the walls represents students.
Question 2: “How do we make resources and services at each school stronger?”
They have not cut back to the Cool Kids Table since I noted it so they might be milling now, I don’t know.
You’d think Rankin would be working the room like she’s running for re-election and this were a free campaign event with stakeholders!
I might be feeling a little saucy tonight. I had a long OSHA training today. I gotta tell my dad to stop repairing electrical cords, apparently.
Sorry I got behind eating tamales.
Themes: social skills support, mental health services, inequities between schools especially when it comes to PTSAs and funding, and how we are leveraging technology in post-pandemic times.
Question 3: “What kinds of programs do you and your student value most and why?”
Who is the SPS staff member in the fuschia dress? I am nominating her as the winner of tonight’s SPS red carpet.
Lol, just realized I was still listening in .75 speed.
Themes: opportunities for students to pursue and discover passions, consistent curricular materials amongst all schools, and choice in clubs based on student choice and not adult passions.
And Bev closing out!
THANKS TO SPSTV WE ARE ALL ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY
Plan in NOVEMBER y’all.
Bye all! I am going in-person to the Northwest meeting (at Robert Eagle Staff…which is positioned at 90th between Aurora and I-5…that “northwest”) on Thursday, so likely won’t tweet out the themes, if someone wants to pick that up.

I'm watching the SW SPS "System of Well-Resourced Schools" meeting in the other window, not expecting to hear much different. We're getting fewer camera angles this evening. I love how Bev is Dr. Jones' hype man in these sessions.
There are possibly folks wearing shirts advocating for saving their schools at this meeting? Jones made an allusion to them in his speech, said there was no plan to consolidate any schools currently [right now. at this exact second.]
Back to the first focus question of "What are your favorite things about your students' school buildings?"
