๐• moves at the speed of light

In just the last 7 days ๐Ÿคฏ:

New Logo
No Follower Ads
Prof G Censored
CEO's 1st Interview
LinkedIn Competitor
Subscriber-Only Replies
Option to Hide Checkmark
Zuck's App Now 1/10th DAU
15โ†’5M Impressions for Rev Share

Here's what you need to know:
1. New Logo

๐• continues its ongoing rebrand with an edgier, harsher look for its new icon: Image
Elon said the "cracks and scratches" better represent the product he loves:
2. Removed Follower Ad Type

๐• is shutting down an ad revenue line that was generating, $100M in revenue a year:

Ads that were going after the follower objective.

Video: @axios
@axios That means of those ads that looked like this: Image
3. Prof G Censored

The controversial creator @profgalloway has been locked out of the site for 2 weeks.

Here's a screenshot from his threads account: Image
Although it happened weeks ago, It was made public & corroborated by @edels0n today

Apparently Galloway doesn't want to be off the platform that he's cultivated 563K followers on. He's locked out.

This is a surprising twist for a platform that let Kanye West & Andrew Tate back.
Image
Image
@edels0n It's not impossible to believe.

@profgalloway also doesn't show up in search.

In a similar circumstance of ๐• exercising its power, 2 weeks ago @music lost its handle. Image
4. CEO's 1st Big Interview

After 8 weeks on the job, Linda Yaccarino had her first big interview. It had some news bombs.

First, Cash flow is โ€œpretty close to break evenโ€, thanks to incredible cost discipline (layoffs)

Video: @CNBCTechCheck
Second, Video calls are coming.

Soon you'll be able to make video chat calls on the platform without giving out your phone number to anyone.

PSST... If you're enjoying this, you'll LOVE my breakdown of the Twitter algorithm:

news.aakashg.com/p/the-real-twiโ€ฆ
5. LinkedIn Competitor

First @oshea posted that "LinkedIn has reached peak cringe. Help us build something better @x" Image
Then it got better when Elon chimed in and said they need to hustle to build get their recruiting product available at scale:

(LinkedIn's largest revenue line is recruiters)
6. Subscriber-only replies

๐• has quietly released a brand new post type.

You can now post to everyone, but only subscribers can reply. Image
This is a really interesting feature because:

1. The Algorithm boosts replies (13.5x & 75x)
2. Ads shown in replies are what drive ad rev share

But for creators who want to control the discourse, they can. Image
7. Option to Hide Blue Checkmark

Xblue subscribers can now hide the fact that they are paying users if they would like.

Video: @TechCrunch
The option shows up in the Profile Customization section of Account Settings. Image
8. Zuck's App down to 1/10th DAU

The other app that shall not be named has seens its Android DAU drop from a peak of 50M to 10M.

This is less than 1/10th ๐•'s 110M Android DAU. Image
@Similarweb However, not everything is rosy for ๐•'s growth.

It's ranking on the app store charts have fallen precipitously since the rebrand.

"Twitter" had enormous brand value. Image
@Similarweb 9. 15 โ†’ 5M impressions for rev share

The biggest product feature launch since Elon's tenure is undoubtedly creator revenue sharing.

And in addition to a second round of checks, the Twitter team also is reducing the barrier to join the program from 15M impressions to 5M. Image
That's a lot less than the 15M over three months or 5M per month over the last 3 months that were the prior requirements.

In addition, the monetization threshold was lowered from $50 to $10.

This effectively makes premium free for accounts with >5M views.

Video: @mashable
Bonus: If you like following ๐• news, a really cool new Twitter account started.

It tracks code changes in Twitter for you - even for non-public commits: @xUpdatesRadar

Used right, OKRs can be the most powerful product process.

But most orgs completely mess them up.

From driving empowerment to becoming tools for controlโ€ฆ

Hereโ€™s what you need to know about when to add or remove OKRs: Image

The conversation around OKRs reveals a fundamental truth:

Alignment mechanisms arenโ€™t one-size-fits-all.

Take Ramp, for example.

They built a $10B company without OKRs.
Their secret?

โ†’ Exceptional product sense.

โ†’ Metrics so clear that every team understood what success looked like without needing a formal framework.

Now look at Google.

If you want to move from a PM to a product leader, thereโ€™s one skill you absolutely need to master:

Product processes.

Here are the 12 most essential ones to drive impact, speed, and quality: Image
๐—ข๐—ก๐—˜ - ๐—ข๐—ž๐—ฅ๐˜€

โ†’ When to Add: When your team is growing fast, shifting priorities, or you need a system to track progress across teams.

โ†’ When to Drop: If OKRs become a never-ending admin task and feel disconnected from day-to-day work, itโ€™s time to simplify.

When to Introduce: Use them to coach junior PMs or align teams during fast-paced iterations.

โ†’ When to Cut Back: If Product Reviews start stifling creativity or become a micromanagement, itโ€™s time to rethink.

One thing that will remain the same in the 2025 job landscape:

Hiring managers will still ask, "Why this company?"

Nail it, and youโ€™re halfway to landing your dream role.

Hereโ€™s how to master this: Image
Over the years, Iโ€™ve worked with countless aspiring and senior PMs.

99% of them give a 4/10 answer.

Hereโ€™s where they go wrong:

1. Generic fluff โ†’ They rattle off buzzwords like โ€œinnovative cultureโ€ or โ€œmarket leader.โ€ Itโ€™s uninspired.
2. No connection โ†’ They talk about the company, but not how they fit into the picture.

3. Vague details โ†’ Itโ€™s clear they didnโ€™t research. No examples, no depth. Just surface-level compliments.

4. Lack of energy โ†’ The delivery feels more like a verbal LinkedIn endorsement.

How do the best product teams ship better and faster without things breaking?

They embed quality into every step of the development process.

Hereโ€™s how you can do the same: Image

โ†’ When: Right after youโ€™ve done your research and before locking down specs.
โ†’ Why it matters: This is your chance to clarify any confusion, resolve technical risks, and ensure alignment before things snowball.

โ†’ Win: Fewer mid-sprint surprises and last-minute changes.

PMs, you can add at least $50k to your salary by becoming an AI PM.

However, many people miss the mark, making the same mistakes over and over again.

Here are the 7 mistakes to avoid if you want to secure your dream AI role: Image

โ†’ Collecting certificates may feel productive, but itโ€™s often just an illusion of progress.

โ†’ Instead of paper chasing, identify a problem, build a prototype, and document your process.

Looking to land a PM role at Google, Amazon, or Meta?

Hereโ€™s the truth: Itโ€™s not enough to just secure the offer.

You need to nail the team matching process.

Hereโ€™s how to land the team (and role) you want: Image

At top tech companies, landing an offer is only the beginning.

After that, itโ€™s time for team matching: the stage where PMs find their โ€œhome baseโ€ within the company.

Why this process is crucial for both parties?
Because it ensures that PMs are placed where their skills and expertise can be best leveraged to drive maximum impact and results for the team and the organisation as a whole.

There are two paths here:

โ†’ Sometimes youโ€™re hired for a specific team, like โ€œPM, Instagram Growth.โ€
