Rich men North of Richmond singer says “it’s aggravating seeing people on conservative news try to identify with me like I’m one of them.”
He says it’s funny they used it in the GOP debate because “I wrote that song about them.”
Conservatives embraced Oliver Anthony because his lyrics blamed the same scapegoats—welfare, food stamps, wokeness, etc—that they use to pull the wool over the heads of the (often white) working class.
He’s right to be pissed. He’s just completely missed the target.

Here we go. The Texas Senate has advised Saturday votes on 3 major bills allowing Republicans to seize control of elections—targeting Harris County, the biggest (and bluest) in Texas.
This is what fascist control looks like.
The first bill, S.B.1070, would abolish the elections administrator position in counties with more than 3.5 million people—which *only* includes Harris County.
This bill would likely end efforts to expand voting access in the county.
The second bill, S.B.1933, would give Greg Abbott’s handpicked Sec. of State the power to overturn elections in Harris County.
The SOS doesn’t even need to prove election malfunctions (like running out of paper ballots)—they just need to have “good cause.”
