Everyone knows about Saffron as a culinary spice

But few understand it's cognitive-enhancing power

- Inhibit Dopamine Reuptake
- Inhibit Noradrenaline Reuptake

When I tried Catuaba for the first time two years ago, I blown away by how potent it was

It was noticeably stimulating without the typical stimulant jitters

And when you look at the science behind it, it makes total sense Image

- Inhibits dopamine reuptake
- Prevents dopamine breakdown (mild)


While Trichilia catigua is considered “true Catuaba..."

Erythroxylum catuaba is very similar and is just as potent in my experience

Bromantane is my favorite compound on this entire list

Here's why:

Bromantane boosts dopamine levels...

But unlike something like Adderall, it does so without addiction, tolerance, or withdrawal

1) Increases DA synthesis (TH/AAAD)
2) Increases DA sensitivity (BDNF/GDNF)

It has a noticeable acute effect that

a) builds with consistent use
b) synergizes with other dopaminergics

While it's safe overall IMO, it’s not a supplement nor is it an approved drug in the USA Image
4) CORDYCEPS

Cordyceps is infamously known as “Himalayan Viagra”

It reliably increases testosterone via bioactives that are analogous in structure to luteinizing hormone

Testosterone indirectly boosts dopamine via epigenetic mechanisms, but Cordyceps doesn't stop there... Image

It's also "Herbal Bromantane"

It indirectly increases dopamine (D2 receptor) signaling via blocking the adenosine A2A receptor Image
Because A2A receptors form heteromeric complexes with dopamine D2 receptors....

Blocking A2A increases D2 signaling

This improves certain Parkinson's symptoms & may help depression

And unlike caffeine, it shouldn't induce cardiovascular side effects or dependence
7) VIGNATEX

Vignatex is an innovative combination of

a) mung bean
b) passionflower

These 2, especially mung bean, contain compounds that slow the breakdown of dopamine (via MAO inhibition) Image
While Passionflower also inhibits MAO, it mainly works to smooth out any potential jitters via enhancing GABAergic activity

To be honest, I personally wouldn't use Vignatex for nootropic purposes

But it may potentially be useful for lowering prolactin or Restless Leg Syndrome Image

Sabroxy & Polygala are 2 of the heavy hitters on this list
