On November 2nd, the Islamic Republic of Iran will be Chair of the U.N. Human Rights Council Social Forum. That’s the whole tweet.
2/ Ahead of the September 11th opening of the UNHRC's 54th session, we hereby call on all Member States of the Human Rights Council to introduce and adopt the following resolution at its 54th Session:
Overturning the Appointment of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Representative as Chair of the 2023 United Nations Human Rights Council Social Forum
The Human Rights Council,
Recalling the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women,
Recalling that the Human Rights Council was founded, as stated in General Assembly Resolution 60/251, for the purpose of promoting universal respect for the protection of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for all, and to address situations of violations of human rights, including gross and systematic violations, and make recommendations thereon,
Recalling further all previous resolutions adopted by the General Assembly and the Human Rights Council concerning the situation of human rights in Iran,
Expressing serious concern over the actions of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran since September 2022 to continuously undermine and increasingly suppress the human rights of women and girls, including the right to freedom of expression and opinion, often with the use of excessive force, by administering policies flagrantly contrary to the human rights of women and girls and to the mandate of the Human Rights Council, as well as through the use of lethal force resulting in the deaths of peaceful protesters, including women and girls,
Noting with great concern that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Representative was appointed Chair of the 2023 United Nations Human Rights Council Social Forum,
Emphasizing that the appointment of a representative of a government with such a deplorable human rights record severely undermines the credibility and purpose of both the Human Rights Council and the Social Forum,
Recalling the recent report by the Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Iran which exposes a stark reality of widespread human rights abuses and violations in Iran, including state-endorsed violence against women and girls, summary executions of peaceful protesters, and stifling of freedom of expression, suggesting possible crimes against humanity,
1. Decides to nullify with immediate effect the appointment of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Representative as Chair of the 2023 United Nations Human Rights Council Social Forum.

Iran regime elected to UN Committee on Disarmament & International Security. The criminals who trample their own people, violate UN Security Council resolutions, arm Russia with 400 UAVs to bomb Ukraine civilians, fail to cooperate with IAEA & foment terrorism at home and abroad.
2/ Yes, Islamic of Republic of Iran was on the UN Women's Rights Commission (until we expelled them in December); named last month as Chair of UN Human Rights Council Social Forum; last week, VP of UN General Assembly & now to Committee on Disarmament and International Security.
3/ Meet Iran's Heidar Ali Balouji. In September, he'll be the new Rapporteur of the UN Committee on Disarmament and International Security, presenting to the UNGA resolutions on disarmament, global challenges, and threats to peace that affect the international community.
BREAKING: North Korea, a regime that starves its own people, was just elected to the @WHO Executive Board. No joke: apps.who.int/gb/gov/en/comp…
2/ What this means is that one of the world's most horrific regimes is now a part of a group that sets and enforces the standards and norms for the global governance of health care. It is an absurd episode for a key U.N. agency that is in much need of self-reflection and reform.
3/ North Korea's regime allows its people to die of starvation while they spend billions on nuclear weapons.
As a member of the WHO Executive Board for the next three year, Kim Jong Un will help set the agency's agenda and implement its policies. wsj.com/articles/north…
I am proud to announce that this week we will be submitting to the United Nations a resolution to overturn the appointment of the Islamic Republic of Iran as Chair of the U.N. Human Rights Council Social Forum. This travesty of justice cannot stand.
2/ The text will be contained in a UN Watch submission to the 53rd Session of the UN Human Rights Council. We will then need to find a member state to officially sponsor the resolution. If we fail to act now, a murderous regime will become the head of a world human rights forum.
3/ We salute the 🇺🇸 U.S. for condemning the appointment of a regime “with such a deplorable human rights record,” which “severely undermines the credibility and purpose of the UN Human Rights Council.” We now call on Britain, France, Germany and other democracies to do the same.
In 1968, the Soviets invaded Czechoslovakia to crush the Prague Spring. Seven people went to Red Square to protest. They were smashed in minutes by the KGB, thrown in prison or to psychiatric hospital. But their courage inspired many. @jaynordlinger nationalreview.com/corner/for-you…
2/ “The protesters held small Czechoslovakian flags. Also placards. One of these placards read, “Shame to the Occupiers!” Another read, “Long Live Free and Independent Czechoslovakia!” Another: “For Your Freedom and Ours!”
3/ “The protest lasted only a few minutes. KGB agents set on the group. They knocked out Viktor Fainberg’s teeth, then and there. Subsequently, the authorities locked him up in a psychiatric institution for five years. This was a typical Soviet punishment, and horrifying.”
BREAKING: The Islamic Republic of Iran was today appointed Chair of the U.N. Human Rights Council Social Forum. This year's theme is technology and promotion of human rights; Iran just hanged Yousef Mehrad and Sadrollah Fazeli Zare for using social media to criticize religion.
2/ We just created a petition demanding that Secretary-General @antonioguterres intervene to stop this shameful appointment, which is an insult to the tens of thousands of victims beaten, brutalized, tortured, raped and murdered by this regime. Sign here: change.org/p/stop-iran-fr…
3/ Also, the criminal regime in Iran—which tortures protesters, poisons schoolgirls and spreads terrorism worldwide—was recently elected to the U.N. Commission on Crime Prevention. While the U.S. and allies did stop Russia from getting elected, on Iran they said and did nothing.
“Germany continues to pay for hatred of Jews,” reports Europe's top-selling newspaper @BILD, citing our report with Impact-se. “Germany paid 180 million euros to UNRWA, whose teachers glorify terrorists and call on Hitler to burn Jews.” @bjoernstritzel bild.de/politik/auslan…
2/ “Many millions of Euros of taxpayers’ money for hate: The EU continues to fund calls for violence and anti-Semitic incitement. This is the result of an investigation into Palestinian teaching materials used in schools run by UNRWA during the current school year.”
3/ “In addition, many of the teachers employed there also make openly antisemitic statements, glorify Hitler and cheer the murder of Jews.
UNRWA is the the relief agency for Palestinians. The vast majority of staff are Palestinians themselves, including many of the teachers.”
