Difference between Veda, Upanishads, Purana, Bhagwat Gita and other scriptures (Thread)

Before starting, Three things to know abt Hindu scriptures :

1. All Hindu scriptures convey similar msg but in different style :

- Ishwar (God) is only reality rest everything is Maya (mirage)
- Ishwar is only for know, If u can know Ishwar, U can get all knowledge of Universe

2. There are two ways to gather knowledge : Observation and Dissection

Modern Science is dissection based while Vedic science is observation based

Modern science explores about the object of consciousness while Vedic science is all about exploration of source of consciousness

Modern science is based on dissection, suppose if u want to know abt flower then dissect the flower, study the details but in the method we get the details but lose the flower

Vedic science says don't dissect it, meditate on flower, control distraction n u will know everything

3. Hindu Scriptures use Symbolism (Indirect reference)

परोक्षप्रिया इव हि देवाः ॥
-Aitareya Upanishad
God loves Symbolism

Profound truth sud be expressed only in symbolic manner so that only eager n persistent student can understand

So three things about Hindu scriptures

1. Hindu scriptures talks abt knowledge gathered from meditation (Observation)
2. They use extensive symbolism to explain things
3. All scriptures convey similar msg, the amount of symbolism is high or less

Now lets talk abt difference

Veda

Veda are the toughest and are in code words format.

To understand Veda first you need to decode the meaning and after decoding you get the philosophical and scientific meaning.

Lot of people read that Veda contains all cosmic knowledge n they buy Veda n start reading

But they don't find any scientific knowledge, they only find meaningless stuti of deva n they leave reading

These are not meaningless prayers, they are high level cosmic formulas but are in code words format so to understand them first u need to decode them

Let me give u hints

When u read Veda next time, Try
Mitra = Electron
Varun = Proton
Aryama = Neutron

Veda r toughest and u need years of practise to understand
They contain all knowledge of Universe

How Universe were created
Esoteric knowledge
functioning of the Universe
Secrets of Cosmic powers

Upanishads

Upanishads are abstract of Veda that means decoded Veda.
Truth as it is

They are highly philosophical in language and again you need guidance to grasp that philosophical meaning.

Purana

Purana are in story form.

Easy to read but need guidance and self efforts to abstract the underlying knowledge from these stories.

Bhagwat Geeta

Simplest and to the point.

God itself gave it to human.
'Beginners must start with Bhagwat Geeta.

Once you understand the real meaning of it then you can go to other scriptures

Patanjali Yogsutra :

This is more like practical work book written in scientific style.

Other scripture tell u what is real truth but this book step by step tells you how to achieve that Truth.

Yoga Vasistha

Combination of Puran and Upanishad. Philosophical dialogues between Sage Vasistha and Shri Ram

The key to unlock all Hindu scriptures is Mind
Modern Science is at very early stage to understand what is Mind while all Hindu wisdom starts from study of Mind

This thread was for just to give basic ideas.

Those who want to start from beginning they can start from Bhagavad Gita coz its in simplest language n contains least symbolism
