What happens next?
🧵
1/n Let me sum up before going into the details:

1. There will be no GNU
2. There will be no rerun.
3. Chamisa is in a fix and is finished.
4. His MPs will not forfeit and sacrifice their win for his loss.
5. Inauguration will go on in the next few days Image
2/n CCC has announced that they reject the elections outcome in toto. They claim they will announce a 30-day campaign which citizens must support to campaign for a rerun.

This is a hard-brained manouvre which is a bridge to nowhere by a failed Chamisa 😂 Image
3/n. Our constitution is very clear. Only @ZECzim validly announces election results, not a Zambian puppet next door, not an observer mission from anywhere be it SADC, EU, Commonwealth, AU or even heaven!

ZEC made it’s announcement. Zanu PF won over 50% of Parly & Prez vote.
4/n There is zero doubt that the Zim opposition combined including Chamisa and his acolytes were roundly defeated.

They can’t say the election was not free and fair after participating and losing. If it wasn’t fair why did they participate?
5/ Here is Chamisa’s quagmire: He has no legal basis to contest the election. If he had, he would spring into action.

The law allows Chamisa 2 routes to overturn the outcome of August 23:
1: He can ask the court for a recount:
2. He can petition the court with evidence. Image
6/ Route one must be acted on within 48 hours of the results being announced. The 48 hours ended yesterday.

Chamisa literally had no grounds to ask the court for a recount so he did not petition the courts for that recount. So he let that slide.
7/ So what other option has he got?

Chamisa has route 2 left. But it’s time-bound. He has 7 days from the date of announcement to provide the Constitutional Court with evidence that the result announced by @ZECzim are incorrect.

He has little runway left on that.
8/n We know and he knows from his previous 2018 petition that he must have evidence from the primary voter count to contest the ZEC tally. The primary evidence is contained on V11 forms.

We now know and Chamisa knows that he has no such forms and hence no evidence for route 2. Image
9/n Reasons for lack of V11s are many, but include that Chamisa had insufficient agents across the 12000+ polling stations countrywide.

Only a fool repeats the same thing twice and expects a different result. Chamisa is one such FOOL. He ought to know from the 2018 debacle.
10/ The other reason is that Chamisa got illegal funding from Hakainde Hichilema to the tune of $400k for his campaign but misappropriated it.

This is why some of his MPs are unwilling to forego their victory.

Hichilema funding violates our political funding laws.
11/n The West, specifically the EU under @vonKirchmannEU knew if this Chamisa weakness. So they wanted to fund Chamisa’s party to train polling agents.

Unfortunately it would generate a mess had @euinzim only funded Chamisa’s party. So they proposed funding for all parties.
12/ But as you know, we are many steps ahead of these novices 😂

We told them NO it can’t. Why?

Because it violates our campaign laws.
13/n We know, and Chamisa knows that he can’t follow route 1 & 2 which is prescribed by our laws without looking like the imbecile he is. So this is why yesterday Ostallos held a press conference claiming that CCC rejects the results in toto.
14/ Ostallos claimed that they will call for a new poll.

Rejection of the poll in toto means that his 73 MP and dozens of council election winner would have to argue that their win is also rigged and forfeit that seats.

My Intel is they are non interested in this nonsense,
15/n They used their resources to run a campaign Chamisa was uninterested in as he focused on his presidential campaign

This is where Chamisa is at political crossroads.

I will disclose here that all CCC elected candidates with take their seats and say “Haurimwi” to Chamisa.
16/n Today @pmkwananzi, a fugitive from the law announced that Chamisa will launch a 30-day campaign for new elections.

I can tell you that that’s not gonna happen. We won’t spent another half a billion dollars to please that chap. Image
17/ Chamisa thinks he can sway regional leaders. But regional leaders are already fed up of Brenthurst Foundation puppets in the region.

Also Chamisa went around saying that he won’t accept any win other than his. It’s on the record. He also said there would no rigging.

18/n Long story short, this is the end of Chamisa’s blabbering sound and fury signifying nothing and he knows it, he is finished.
19/n Will there be any protests?

I can tell you NONE. No one will take the risk so that Chamisa can insult them as stupids as he did before. Image
20/ The other reason there won’t be any protests is that we are ready for any lawbreakers.

We have enough jails for those that break the law.

Kunotsva mbiti!
21/n What’s next for Chamisa?

Chamisa must now wait and prepare for the storm coming in his party.

Biti, Hwende, Welshman, Khupe and others are waiting for him,

I feel sorry for him. Image
22/22

My Advice to Chamisa is: usagumbika ndezvekutumwa izvi. Vanhu havana kukutuma. Hazvisi zvekumba. 😅😅

Zambia & the IMF Loan 🧵
1/5
The blog post by Sean Tembo is the most cogent analysis on @HHichilema’s troubled dalliance with IMF I have read to date

Let me summarize it for you:

1. IMF fooled Zambia into taking a loan lying it would help @HHichilema restructure Zambia’s debt
2/5

2.Hichilema first first announced taking an IMF loan before he had a cabinet, meaning some people where handling him.

3. IMF then gave Zambia tough conditions for the loan

3. Zambia met all the IMF conditions for the loan: cutting subsidies, increasing fuel prices etc.
3/5

4. After taking the IMF loan, Zambia has been demanding that the IMF deliver its debt restructuring promise. But IMF can’t deliver, so their MD showed up in Zambia last week, opened an office there.

5. In Zambia, IMF MD told basically said - we can’t restructure the debt.

Random facts 🧵
1/ Strive Masiyiwa turned 62 yesterday.

Unknown to many, Strive was one of the earliest indigenization activists in Zimbabwe. He also made millions of dollars from GVT tenders - he qualifies as what we wld today call a tenderpreneur. Image
2/ During his indigenization activist days, Strive & others formed the earliest indigenisation lobby called Indigenous Business Development Centre (IBDC) founded in Dec 1990 but formed officially on 1 Feb 1991.

Strive was the Sec-General of IBDC - a very vocal one at that. Image
3/ Others members included John Mapondera, Chemist Siziba, Mercy Zinyama, Delma Lupepe, Enoch Kamushinda, Godfrey Chitambo (now at ZAMFI), Ben Mucheche, Jacob Mudenda (now Parly speaker), Ruhukwa, Machipisa, James Makamba, Gapare, Gari Magadzire, Paul Mukondo, Roger Boka, etc. ImageImage
