1/ I had the MISFORTUNE of going through a report prepared and distributed by @TheSentry_Org, possibly written by an excitable @nickpdonovan.

Long story short, the report is shallow & weak. Here is my take: 2/ Let's dig into this at 3 levels: technical, geo-political & personal.
TECHNICAL:
The import of the @TheSentry_Org report is that the Mutapa Fund overpaid a large amount to shareholders that are unknown. The report itself uses the term "mystery".

1/ ZIG's a brilliant idea. In fact, we must work towards dedollarising fast.

However intro & execution of ZIG by @ZimTreasury & @ReserveBankZIM shows disquieting indifference & absolute LACK OF EMPATHY for people by policymakers. Here is why: 2/ Millions of Zimbabweans run small businesses and earn below $300/month income. Here is the problem: In Harare, before ZIG intro, an average kombi trip was 50c. There was change in bond notes before ZIG. This means getting into and out of town cost $1 using public transport

1/ Econet is considered a blue chip company - listed 25 years ago (1998) on ZSE.

Who were the directors, and where are they?

Econet on listing was unique in that it was the first company listed on the ZSE without a 3-year trading history.

1/n Let me sum up before going into the details:

1. There will be no GNU
2. There will be no rerun.
3. Chamisa is in a fix and is finished.
4. His MPs will not forfeit and sacrifice their win for his loss.
5. Inauguration will go on in the next few days 2/n CCC has announced that they reject the elections outcome in toto. They claim they will announce a 30-day campaign which citizens must support to campaign for a rerun.

This is a hard-brained manouvre which is a bridge to nowhere by a failed Chamisa 😂

The blog post by Sean Tembo is the most cogent analysis on @HHichilema’s troubled dalliance with IMF I have read to date

Let me summarize it for you:

1. IMF fooled Zambia into taking a loan lying it would help @HHichilema restructure Zambia’s debt 2/5

2.Hichilema first first announced taking an IMF loan before he had a cabinet, meaning some people where handling him.

3. IMF then gave Zambia tough conditions for the loan

3. Zambia met all the IMF conditions for the loan: cutting subsidies, increasing fuel prices etc.

1/ Strive Masiyiwa turned 62 yesterday.

Unknown to many, Strive was one of the earliest indigenization activists in Zimbabwe. He also made millions of dollars from GVT tenders - he qualifies as what we wld today call a tenderpreneur. 2/ During his indigenization activist days, Strive & others formed the earliest indigenisation lobby called Indigenous Business Development Centre (IBDC) founded in Dec 1990 but formed officially on 1 Feb 1991.

Strive was the Sec-General of IBDC - a very vocal one at that.
