You want to understand how media propaganda in the West works?

Look at how they cover manufacturing.

First look at the manufacturing in China, which is measured by the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI). This chart shows manufacturing PMI since the start of this year.

(1/) Image
As you can see, manufacturing has been expanding for 5 months out of 8.

In July, there was a small dip below 50, but it bounced back in August.

Now look at the same statistics for the USA.

Only in one month since the beginning of this year has the PMI gone above 50.

(2/) Image
Any neutral or unbiased analyst would say that China is overall doing quite well, whereas the US is staring at disaster.

But that's not what Reuters thinks.

Here's a headline from May 31, 2023.

So a PMI of 50.9 is "falling factory activity" for Reuters.

(3/) Image
When China's PMI dipped slightly below 50 in April 2023, Forbes lost no time in writing the obituary of China's manufacturing sector.

(4/) Image
China recovered from its slight July PMI dip in August, posting a healthy value of 51. But that didn't stop Bloomberg from writing an article telling us all we need to know about "China's economic slowdown."

(5/) Image
But strangely, nobody bothers to tell us "all we need to know about America's economic slowdown" even when the PMI for the last 10 months has seen a decline, except for one month (April 2023) when it was barely above 50.

Instead, we are told of a "manufacturing boom."

(6/) Image
And the Wall Street Journal tells us that a "resilient US economy" is "defying expectations" (on September 2, 2023).

(When the August PMI was 47.9).

I guess we don't know whose expectations were defied.

(7/) Image
What does all this mean?

It means that all these Western publications are lying to their (primarily Western, but also Western-influenced gullible) readers (like people from India and other West-worshipping populations.)

But wishes don't make horses, and data don't lie.

Most of the upper caste #Hindus in the US will be sad today.

The state of #California passed a law banning #discrimination on the basis of #caste, #SB403. This was prompted by several cases of caste-based discrimination in #SiliconValley.

(1/)

hindustantimes.com/world-news/cal…
#California is now a better and safer place for #Dalits to live in than #India. In India, Dalits are regularly beaten or killed because of their #caste, often for having the temerity to ride a horse or wear dark glasses or dress well. #SB403

(2/)
What could possibly be wrong with a law that bans #discrimination?

But there's a hate-filled #racist organization in the US called the #HinduAmericanFoundation (#HAF) that has been opposing this bill on the false pretext that the bill targets #HinduAmericans. #SB403

So much hype about #Chandrayaan_3.

#NationalPride is the stupidest thing out there.

And that's true whether the pride is about Chandrayaan, #Praggnanandhaa, #ViswanathanAnand, #ARRahman winning #GRAMMYs, or #India winning the #WorldCup.

(1/)
If #Chandrayaan_3 succeeds (and I hope it does, for the advancement of science), it will be an achievement for #ISRO.

And only for ISRO.

What did you contribute to Chandrayaan that you are feeling so full of yourself?

(2/)
Did you calculate the trajectory of the satellite or design the propulsion system? No. If you are a pathetic loser, you don't become a winner because Chandrayaan succeeded.

#PravinSawhney suggests that #India has meekly accepted the #Chinese demands at the border.

I think that, if true, this is a good thing.

If India is to prosper, it needs peace with #China.

(1/)
We need a permanent settlement of the border with #China, if necessary on China's terms. We really do not have a choice, as #Modi seems to have realized.

Sawhney says Modi doesn't have the stomach for war with China.

(2/)
If so, I am happy for #India that #PMModi is a #coward. I believe discretion is the better part of valor.

I believe India today is bankrupt (thanks largely to #Modi's mismanagement of the economy) and cannot afford a war.

I have a feeling #Modi's luck is about to run out.

He's been trying to run with the hares and hunt with the hounds for a while now. Or, to put it another way, have his cake and eat it too.

He doesn't want to get in bed with #BRICS because of the antipathy towards #China.

(1/)
He went to the #US and signed some agreements that give the US naval bases in India.

Now he wants to put trade restrictions on US computer products to help #Ambani sell his #Jiobook.

If you are going to burn your bridges with #Russia and #China, you can't piss off the US.

(2/) Image
But if you keep the #US happy and piss off #Ambani, how will you buy legislators and stay in power?

Decisions, decisions...

If the US starts putting trade sanctions on India, lots of big people, like #SimpleSudha's husband, the Indian Idol (Murthy), will be very upset.

When the #Modi government proceeded to build wide highways in #Uttarakhand for the #ChardhamYatra, #environmental groups protested, saying that the #ecosystem was fragile and could not handle the construction.

The case went to the #SupremeCourtofIndia.

(1/)
The petitioners' case was science-based, and the government's case was populism-based. The government wanted to make Hindus happy by providing a highway for quick transport for #yatris.

But the government argued in court that the highways were needed for #NationalSecurity.

(2/)
The #SupremeCourtofIndia accepted the reasoning of the #ModiSarkar. Essentially, it held that environmental concerns were secondary to #NationalSecurity concerns.

And that's why we have catastrophe in #Uttarakhand today.

The environment affects the people who live in it.

#India is a truly advanced country. While the so-called "superpower," #America, spends about $1.5 million per lane-km for a new highway, India spends about $3.8 million per lane-km for the same. (or $5.2 million, for same lane size)

Don't compare us with pathetic, poor countries
And we can afford to do that, year after year, after each monsoon, whereas poor America can only do it once in 30 years. Losers!
Sources: On India's cost of 250 crores per km.

At $1 = ₹80, this is $31.25 million per 8 lane km, or $3.9 million per lane-km. For six lanes for the same width, as in the US, this becomes $5.2 million per lane-km.
