My friend @AliAbdaal 2022, made $4,600,593 on the internet in 2022.

His "Rule of 3" content framework is just as legendary.

So I turned it into a ChatGPT prompt for you:
What is the “Rule of 3”?

When you distill any topic into 3 things, you’ve got a framework.

• “The 3 little pigs.”
• “Bacon, lettuce, and tomato”
• “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

3 makes anything memorable.
Ali creates “3-item” constraints for topics his audience might find interesting.

That way, he can:

• Distill answers in a clear and concise way
• Transform it into any type of content he wants

Constraints eliminate decision fatigue. Image
Step 1: Turn your topic into a question.

Ali picks a topic from his life:

• Pains he's resolved
• Problems he's fixed
• Obstacles he's overcome
• Frustrations he's alleviated

Then he rewrites it as a question and puts it at the center of a blank document. Image
Step 2: Contextualize the question and expand it.

Do this by asking:

• “Why does this problem exist?”
• “Why does this need to be solved?”
• “What’s so important about this topic?”

This is called Abstraction Laddering. Image
Step 3: Use the “Rule of 3”

Create the following lists from your topic:

• 3 reasons why your topic matters
• 3 categories that will help the target audience with the topic
• 3 “extra tips” to help people who are ready for the next step

Now you have a working outline! Image
And it’s not just an outline!

It’s 5 tweets.
It’s a video script.
It’s a Twitter thread.

The Client Says “Yes”

Congratulations!

• You sent out 50+ cold DMs/emails to target clients
• <5 responded
• You followed-up with a Loom “free work” pitch
• 2 said, “Sure. Let’s do it.”

Remember: Time kills deals!

Here’s your checklist to lock everything in quickly:
1️⃣ Let them know how excited you are.

Give them a recap via:

• DM
• Email
• Phone call

Tell them you're sending an invoice.

Subtly mention “as soon as the invoice is paid, I’ll get rocking & rolling!”

And again, tell them how excited you are.
2️⃣ Send them an invoice via Stripe.

Doing this immediately:

• Encourages quicker payment
• Sends the signal you're on top of things

You can always send a different invoice afterwards if they need it in a different format.

Headlines 101

It doesn’t matter how great your content is.

If you can’t write headlines, no one’s going to click and read.

I’ve spent 3,000+ hours obsessing over how to write irresistible headlines.

Want to know a secret?

The best headlines all use the same 5 pieces:
1/ HOW MANY?

All "listicle" articles start with a number.

• 6 Ways
• 7 Reasons
• 8 Brutal Truths
• 9 Heartbreaking Movies

Readers love containers.

Numbers and lists make it easy for people to understand exactly what they're getting in return for their time spent reading.
2/ WHAT?

This is an essential piece of every headline.

Before the reader clicks, they need to know what it is.

• What are they looking at?
• What's inside this black box?

If your headline doesn't have a clear WHAT, your ability to attract readers shrinks exponentially.

I have listened to 300+ podcast episodes on "writing."

Unfortunately, I only have found 5 that were truly helpful.

(The rest just said different variations of "Write from the heart!" over and over again.)

Save yourself the time.

1/ Deconstructing Best-Selling Books

@JamesClear was on @tferriss podcast recently, and they covered all sorts of different topics.

But there's ~30 min in here that's a masterclass on how to write a best-seller.

(Starts 1 hr 15 min in.)

2/ Demystifying The Publishing Industry

@RyanHoliday is one of my fav Category Design examples.

He dominates the Stoicism niche.

But in this @myfirstmilpod with @ShaanVP & @thesamparr he breaks down the economics of book publishing & author earnings.

Ghostwriting Money-Making Formula:

• Solve 1 specific problem
• For 1 specific type of person
• In 1 specific way

Here's a quick guide on how you can position yourself within your niche and hit $10k+/mo:
Step 1: Pick A Problem

In Ship 30 for 30, we teach a framework called The 2-Year Test.

Here’s how it works:

• List all the jobs/careers you’ve had
• List all the interests you’ve had

From this list, you'll be able to select an industry you're qualified to ghostwrite in.
Step 2: Name Your Target Customer

Who needs a ghostwriter?

𝘼𝙣𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙚!

When I was 23 years old, I graduated from Columbia College Chicago.

No clue where I was headed—I just knew I wanted to write.

Today, I turn 33. And am living the life I always wanted.

Some highlights & meaningful milestones from the past decade: ImageImage
I spent most of my early 20s in a cycle of internal conflict.

49% of me wanted to be a bodybuilder (which got me a lot of validation).

But 51% of me knew that was a fraction of my potential, and deep down I really wanted to be a writer.

For years, I tried to combine them lol. Image
My first job out of college gave me a path forward.

I worked as an entry-level copywriter at an ad agency.

My boss took me under his wing and became a close mentor.

He introduced me to entrepreneurship.

But more importantly, he helped me realize my only limitation was "me." Image
