✨Exploring the Best of Banaras in 3 Days - a perfect winter itinerary✨
With winter kicking in, it felt like the perfect time to share my travelogue.
Bonus :This comes with with food recommendations that are best known to Banaras and personally tried and tested by me across my two trips.
Earlier this year, I traveled to Banaras with my mom. I first visited Banaras five years ago, and gradually fell in love with the place. It's a place full of energy - sometimes chaotic - but beautiful in all aspects. Banaras is one of the oldest cities in the world, and honestly feels as if you've travelled back in time but the cultural immersion it offers is just something else. I wanted my mom to experience that same serenity and belonging towards this city of eternity as I did both of us came back with our hearts full 🩷
From the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti 🙏to peaceful boat rides 🚤, sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple to the incredible local food 🍲, we explored it all.
Traveling with my mom made it even more special, and Banaras truly shines when shared with family. If you’re looking for a spiritual and gastronomical adventure,
Read on as I share a perfect Banaras itinerary for this winter !
Day 1
✈️Arrive in Banaras and check into your hotel. If you’re traveling with senior parents or prefer convenience, try to stay close to Dashashwamedh Ghat or Kashi Vishwanath Temple for easy access to the main attractions.
Head to Dashashwamedh Ghat in the evening and take a leisurely walk around the area, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere✨
Make sure to be there by 5:00 PM to grab a good spot for the Ganga Aarti 🪔—it’s an experience you won’t want to miss.
While you're at the ghats, you can also visit the Sitla Mata Mandir here. Then later walk through the markets towards Gowdoliya chowk heading directly to Kashi Chaat Bhandar to enjoy some delicious food like Tamatar Ki Chaat and Chura Matar—especially great with the sweetness of winter matar 🍽️.
then end the day on a sweet note with a classic Banarasi Paan 🍃(There's one right below Hotel Ganges Grand) —the perfect way to wrap up the day !
Day 2✨
Start your day with a breakfast at Ram Bhandar, enjoying Kachori Sabji and follow it up with Malaiyo at Sriji 🥘.
Later in the day, take a peaceful boat ride 🚤 along the Ganga, covering 40 ghats from Manikarnika to Harishchandra. Don’t miss bird feeding 🕊️—buy bhujias from the boat vendors to feed the birds, a fun local touch. Afterward, relax by the ghats, enjoy the view, and sip on a refreshing Lemon Chai from the tea vendors 🍋( The boat typically costs 1k-1.5k, however you will find vendors asking even 3/4k , so be aware)
For lunch, head to Batti Chokha for Bihari-style chokha and litti 🍽️or else simple meal at any local Thali place.
Visit Kaal Bhairav Mandir followed by the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the most famous Jyotirlingas in India ⛪.
To avoid long queues, book Sheegra Darshan tickets online and also check the Garba Griha timings if you want a closer darshan. also make sure to visit Annapurna Mandir.
In the evening, enjoy a refreshing lasst at the Blue Lassi, a must-try in Banaras. Afterwards, explore the markets near Vishwanath Market and Gowdoliya 🛍️ for Banarasi sarees/weaves.
For dinner, head to Shree Cafe in the Dashashwamedh area 🍽️(they have lovely street photography pictures in the cafe) , or a cozy meal at Pizzeria Vatika Cafe, famous for its delicious pizzas and also Apple pies.
🔥How I Turned a 4 Lakh Spend on My AMEX Platinum Travel Card into a Dream Vacation at One of India's Top Marriott Resorts!🌟
Hello from The Westin Himalayas🏔️
Excited to share details of how I scored this amazing stay using credit card points 💸🙌
Read till the end 👇
Located in the heart of Uttarakhand, just a 45-minute scenic drive from Dehradun Airport, the Westin Himalayas is a stunning resort. We booked a cab at Dehradun airport for 1.5k INR, saving on the hotel's 5k INR pickup charge.
The Hotel entrance was smaller than we expected but very tastefully done🤌
relatively less crowded as we arrived on a weekded, we welcomed warmly by the staff.
Liked how well organised they were with the check-in, with almost everything ready before we arrived.
🚨Here are the Top 10 things to know if UZBEKISTAN is on your travel list 🇺🇿
A very affordable destination with stunning architecture, good food and kind locals ✨
This thread covers everything from VISAS to INTERNAL TRAINS and ITINERARY to tentative BUDGET 💰
So, let's go 🚀
1️⃣VISA
Indians are eligible for E-Visa.
Apply online and receive in 3-5 days using the link
⚠️One frustrating aspect of the Visa process is that the passport photo must meet ICAO requirements, requiring an image resizer tool to proceed with application.e-visa.gov.uz/main
2️⃣Flights ✈️
Direct flights from Mumbai and Delhi with @uzbekairways and @IndiGo6E
Would suggest choosing Uzbek Air because of better seats, great food and almost similar prices most of the time.
RT ✈️ should cost 25-30k ideally if planned in advance.
🚨10 Things you must know for planning a trip to KAZAKHSTAN 🇰🇿 A beautiful, affordable and underrated gem of Central Asia 🌏
This Guide has everything from FOREX to VISA to BUDGET and will help plan your trip better💰
So let's delve in, shall we🤌
1) Flights✈️
Almaty is just a 3 hour direct flight from Delhi with Indigo and Air Astana. FlyArystan has direct flights from Mum.
Flights to 🇰🇿 are no longer very cheap as it was last year and shd be around INR 25-35k RT now as an estimate,+/- will be there
*Image from Google👇*
2) Visa 🛂
Indians are offered a Free 14 day Visa on Arrival .
Whilst we weren't asked any questions by the Immigration officer, but remember to carry your return tickets, hotel bookings etc as proof if asked 🙌
Last Summer we spent a few days in Gurez Valley - an offbeat Gem in Kashmir ⛅
Just a 5 hour drive from Srinagar, took us to this unexplored Paradise which is stunning beyond words and practically untouched by mass tourism 🏔️
Sharing my 4 day Travel Sojourn👇
Join Along ⬇️
Firstly some basics ℹ️
🔹You can visit Gurez only in Summer Months of Apr-Oct. Due to heavy snow at Razdan Pass it's closed during winters.
🔹You'll need to hire a car for travels here and 2/3 days RT from Srinagar costs approx 15-20k
🔹Day Trip isn't possible from Srinagar.
ℹ️ cont'd
🔹I have a trusted travel advisor in Kashmir who did the bookings etc for me (DM for his details if you need).
🔹Gurez doesn't have luxury stay options. It's very similar to Pangong Tso in Ladakh so expect to get only tents(luxury as well) and basic Hotels.
🚨 𝟳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻🚨
Japan is a dream destination for many travelers and now in one of the Top 3 countries I've visited.
Easy to plan & navigate if you know few basics
The below 🧵should be helpful for some Key Tips ✴️
1️⃣Cash in King in Japan 💰💵
Would highly recommend carrying atleast 10000 Yen/day while travelling with you everyday . Although you might not need it daily but a lot of places don't accept cards including most shrine entrances, restaurants and metro stations etc.
2️⃣JR pass is essential only when you take multiple rides🚅
We took Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka RT + day trips to Nara and Hiroshima.
This made travel using Bullet trains economical.
Order JR Pass 20 days prior to trip via @KlookTravel (it's cheaper) and exchange for JR ticket in 🇯🇵
