The new Atlantic piece on Mitt Romney calls out 3 of America's smarmiest Senators, who fake their support for Trump and betray the US, but skips how they're connected: Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz & J.D. Vance owe their careers to Peter Thiel. They're owned. 1/

It's bizarre that the Atlantic links Hawley, Cruz, & Vance but won't say they share a patron. It matters who pulls their strings: Hawley and Cruz are the 2 Senators who upheld objections to the electoral vote on Jan 6. Without them, no Capitol attack. 2/

Ted Cruz, who worked on post-election maneuvers for Bush vs. Gore in 2000, was Thiel's first successful political project. Thiel funded Cruz's run for TX Attorney General in 2009, then for Senate in 2012. Cruz won with the help of Ali Alexander's set. 3/
Thiel has managed Hawley for decades. Hawley wrote for Thiel's Stanford Review. Thiel helped Hawley found Teneo in 2008, then funded his run for Senate. (James O'Keefe tipped the election to Hawley with dirty tricks; this gang is all linked.) 4/

Hawley's Teneo was in the news recently - ProPublica and Esquire wrote about how dangerous it is - but bizarrely left out that Josh Hawley was a founder. These links matter; it's irresponsible to leave them out. 5/

Sen. JD Vance of Ohio is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Peter Thiel. Thiel met law student Vance in 2011, then became his patron: installed him at Mithril Capital in 2016; set him up with Narya Capital in 2019; gave him a slot at 2019 NatCon, spent $10M running him for Senate. 6/

The Atlantic nailed the insincerity of Senators Hawley, Cruz, and Vance, their "oily disingenuousness". (Mitt Romney: "I don’t know that I can disrespect someone more than J. D. Vance".) But they left out the WHY - the money, and the paymaster, Thiel. 7/

After the Jan 6 Capitol attack, Roger Stone sought "pre-emptive" pardons for Hawley and Cruz. They are in deep. The Jan 6 "Big Timeline" has 58 entries for Hawley, 41 for Cruz, and 12 for Vance. It's worth a read. 8/

Now that everyone's talking about how Kenneth Chesebro, architect of Trump's fake electors plot, was at the Capitol with Alex Jones on Jan 6, let's think about how bad that is. Because Jones was used for a strategic purpose in the Capitol attack. And Chesebro was watching. 1/ Image
It is clear that Alex's movements serve the Capitol attack. The crowd was too thin; the MPD arrive and stall the attack. Alex then gets a call to come to the Capitol. Once there he helps move the mob where they need to be to help in breaches. Chesebro was with him, filming. 2/ Image
Chesebro isn't with Alex in the morning; he connects up with Alex only on Capitol grounds. Once Alex arrives, the NW Scaffolds are taken in a rush. Alex then urges the crowd to move East, where the next breaches will soon happen. From this point on, Chesebro stays with him. 3/

An incredibly important story from HuffPost: the current pseudo-philosophy of Peter Thiel's Silicon Valley set (not to mention the NYT and WaPo) is just warmed-over white nationalism from the Richard Spencer era. And Thiel helped many of those extremists get started. 1/
@letsgomathias's story mentions that Richard Hanania (under the pseudonym) "Richard Hoste" wrote for Richard Spencer's Taki's Magazine and VDARE. And so did Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes. The Proud Boys were announced in the pages of Taki's Mag in Sept. 2016. 2/

White supremacist Richard Spencer, editor of Taki's Mag who published Hanania and McInnes, was himself published in Russia in Matt Taibbi's "The eXile" magazine. Spencer married a glamorous Russian, too. 3/

The indictment is in: Tyler Dykes, Charlottesville neo-Nazi marcher, is Jan 6's #GooseInGrey. He moved with an elite Proud Boys group: walked around the Capitol, helped run the E. Plaza breach, attacked at the Columbus Doors. Let out of jail yesterday & picked right up by FBI. 1/ https://t.co/9xOvH0j7Sp
#GooseInGrey stayed covered all of January 6 - he hid his ID carefully. But not carefully enough for #SeditionHunters, who hunted him since March 2021. FBI carefully noted his identifying features in court docs (h/t @hockeynut0118). 2/

#SeditionHunters knew early on that Dykes / #GooseInGrey was important. He moved with purpose all day: with the core group who moved around the Capitol to breach on the East; pushing through police in at the Columbus doors, then back West to the tunnel. 3/

If you're reading the WaPo article about former US Atty for DC Michael Sherwin and FBI WFO head Steve D'Antuono slow-walking the Jan 6 investigation: 1) don't focus on Trump, and 2) the key word is FORMER. Both are gone. Look who's in charge now. 1/
washingtonpost.com/investigations…
Sherwin was eased out of DOJ in March 2021. FBI's D'Antuono, vilified by both hard-core MAGA and left-wing pundits, abruptly announced his retirement on Dec. 2, 2022. He was under fire both for resisting the search of Mar-a-Lago - and for searching it. FBI WFO had no leader...2/ Image
... til Dec. 29 when FBI Director Wray named his replacement. New ADIC Sundberg is the real deal: he's run WFO's Counterterrorism Division & the elite Hostage Response Team. Wray tapped him, not white-collar crime specialist D'Antuono, to make sure the inauguration was safe. 3/ ImageImage

For those worried over Trump's court date in Miami - NO it will not be like Jan 6. The Jan 6 crowd was built with months of social media, pre-rallies, free buses...and even so the E Capitol crowd was this thin. People had to be goaded to walk around the building. We are lazy. 1/ Image
The lesson of Jan 6 is not that inciting a mob is easy. It is that getting people to travel is hard. Watch the Stop the Steal rallies in Nov-Dec. People were fired up, but other than the big DC events, the rallies are SMALL. A crowd of 100 was normal. 2/
MAGA is just not that compelling. The Women's March in DC was 50x as big as Jan 6. To grasp what all the Jan 6 efforts produced, think: Division II football stadium. Of course stochastic terrorism is still a danger; one person with a gun is lethal. But it won't be a mob. 3/ Image

Nice thread from @MuellerSheWrote on the Mar-a-Lago classified documents, but it leaves out one key episode. Just before DOJ subpoenaed the security camera, Trump hastily made Kash Patel & John Solomon official documents representatives. He was covering for something they did. 1/ Image
@MuellerSheWrote's thread narrates all the key events except that sudden designation of Patel and Solomon, which would come between Tweets 10--11. By that point, Trump knew DOJ was closing in. The subpoena was not a surprise. The coverup was starting. 2/ Image
Here's a chunk of the timeline, in yesterday's thread about John Solomon, the other appointed NARA rep. Kash Patel was spinning on 22nd, when Trump says he got a subpoena. John Solomon was the first to report on the search itself. 3/
