I was very confused by Tim Dillon's meteoric rise when it was happening because I didn't find him particularly funny or interesting but it all makes sense that they needed a loud gay man to fill out the character quotas for things like this.
This is like Peter Thiel's own personal Avengers.
I remember listening to Nick Mullen, Tim and Luis Gomez doing "Bastard Radio" and Tim bailing and saying it was because he had big things coming. I thought it was weird this relatively unknown was dipping on Cumtown adjacent fame. Little did I know he'd gotten the Thiel signal.
