"Iceberg Slim" moved to be almost 100 years old. Mostly known for his bio "Pimp" he really had a huge catalogue and helped build a certain genre. These books are floating all around the American prison system. I've read my share.

FDR started Unicor, the federal prison industries in 1934 that pays inmates .40 an hour to work in innumerable markets. It shifted slavery out of the public eye with a loophole in the 13th amendment.

They will literally do anything for anyone from govt to private to non profit. They particularly enjoy having their slaves produce things for the military. Be sure to check out their "pastic tableware". They get great reviews from the Dept of Homeland Security.

I was friends with the man who took James Dickey on the canoe trip down the Chattooga in NE GA that inspired him to write "Deliverance".

He was one of the most impressive men I've ever met and was the inspiration for the Burt Reynolds character, Lewis (he was named E. Lewis King) in the movie.

A decade ago Aella was posting photo sets having sex with garden gnomes› on /r/gonewild because she was broke as shit and now she has been scooped up by Peter Thiel, gotten cosmetic surgery and transitioned into a "serious" data scientist to harvest your sexual data for Peter Thiel.

Reading any Gustave Whitehead a German immigrant with claims to have flown a powered airplane prior to the Wright Brothers. In 1986 a high school teacher replicated the design and got actor and pilot Cliff Robertson to pilot the craft, he's an interesting guy himself.

Cliff played JFK in the first movie about a sitting president which came out 5 months prior to his assassination.

Lincoln and Kennedy both had VPs named Johnson who assumed office after the assassinations and who were both blamed by certain groups to be behind the assassinations in order to muddy the waters.
Image

Looking into the assassination of Lincoln is making me reframe my idea that "post JFK everyone vying for POTUS had to know if they challenged the agenda they could be dealt with". Anyone with historical knowledge should know it's always been that way. 1963 was not really new.

Twin Peaks S2 as Civil war critique. Ben Horne is a stand in for the Confederacy. His "Stop Ghostwood" campaign based on his fake interest in saving the pine weasel is analogous to the southern plea to defend their way of life from the incoming horde of "others".

Thomas Eckhert (of South Africa and Hong Kong) enters the scene and ends up murdering members of what would be considered the union faction (The Martels who were pro Ghostwood development from foreign money). Image

Somehow my wife doesn't know about the original version of "Let's Get it Started" that dropped in 2004 and, with its new lyrics probably makes a fortune in royalties from sports events alone. Image

In 1848 France abolished slavery and due to a need for labor they turned their previous slave based colony of French Guiana into a penal colony where they sent 57,000 prisoners, only 2,000 made it out alive. In 1968 Rev Melvin Hodges of the Assembly of God headed down with his missionaries to continue to spread the good word to the southern hemisphere.
