The "bombshells" the Oversight Committee is pumping out before tomorrow's impeachment hearing range from "total non sequiter" to "actively undermines their case." Threaded below...
Merrick Garland’s DOJ indicted a Democratic senator. MAGA pundits responded with wild conspiracy theories. mediamatters.org/fox-news/merri…
Anyone who thought the charges against Robert Menendez would lead pundits on the right to reconsider their assertions of a “two tiered” system of justice was making a category error.
The right’s claim that President Joe Biden has “politicized” the Justice Department is not a reasoned, falsifiable claim based on evidence — it is a conspiracy theory in which all new information which seems to refute it is twisted by propagandists and marshaled in its support.
~9 hours from "senior Democratic senator was indicted" to "the state's Democratic governor and Democratic heads of both houses of the state legislature call for him to step down." newjerseyglobe.com/governor/murph…
John Solomon inadvertently detonated the House impeachment case. Last month, he published a State Dept. briefing memo which irrefutably proves that it was U.S. policy to seek Viktor Shokin's removal at the time Biden was pushing for it as VP. mediamatters.org/fox-news/john-…
The right has claimed for years that when Biden told Ukraine’s leaders in December 2015 that the U.S. would not release $1 billion in loan guarantees unless they fired Shokin, the country’s prosecutor general, he was acting to benefit Hunter by halting his purported Burisma probe
Contemporaneous reports and testimony have long showed that this is wrong: Biden was carrying out U.S. policy, Shokin had been widely faulted by Western governments for failing to prosecute corruption, and his Burisma probe had stalled.
1. Here’s a thread about a grotesque and cynical bid by The Daily Caller, Breitbart, and The Daily Wire to farm traffic and engagement from anti-vaxxers by churning out posts about celebs and young athletes suffering heart attacks. mediamatters.org/daily-caller/r…
2. If you spend any time online, you know that anti-vaxxers inevitably but dubiously attribute heart attacks to the rare (and usually mild) COVID-19 vaccine side effect of myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle.
3. This is crap: Cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in young athletes b/c strenuous exercise puts them at higher risk; there is no evidence of increase in such incidents post-vax; and rare tragedies happen often in a big country.
From Friday through Monday at noon, Fox spent almost 3 hours on an interview Brian Kilmeade conducted with Ukraine’s former prosecutor general Viktor Shokin.
Shokin was fired in 2016 amid criticism from Western governments including the U.S. that he was not prosecuting corruption.
But on Fox, he maintained that he was actually so successful at it that Joe Biden forced him out to benefit Hunter's business interests.
If that sounds familiar it's because that was the basis for Trump's first impeachment. All the evidence that it is nonsense has been around since then.
In 2002, Coulter famously said that her “only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building”; she later expressed regret, saying she “should have added, ‘after everyone had left the building except the editors and reporters.’”
More recently, she wrote that the paper “must die,” explaining, “This is a newspaper that cannot be trusted on anything touching on race. They’re liars and ideologues, not reporters and editors.” mdjonline.com/opinion/ann-co…
Also she's a bigot but of course the Times knows that too.
