The FCC is trying to bring back net neutrality. In 2017, the media & Dems declared that repealing the rules would destroy the internet. Instead things got better. Me for @FreeBeacon

Do you remember the takes? I do. Follow along⤵️

You really can’t overstate how ridiculous the coverage was. This was @CNN’s homepage when the rules were rolled back. Image
And it wasn’t just CNN. Here’s @NBCNews who said it would sever the internet lifeline for lgbt people. Image
@TheVerge told readers to be afraid of…Mickey Mouse.

@washingtonpost had its own convoluted disaster scenario all planned out.

Image

@NPR called the net neutrality repeal a “dramatic course reversal” that would kick motivate political outrage.

We did have plenty of that, in fairness. Just over nothing.

I’ll let @GQMagazine’s headline speak for itself. Image
I’ll also let @nytimes’ headline speak for itself. Image
@thenation presented without comment. Image
Opinion commentary was even worse. Here’s a piece from NYT and another for NBC.

Just ridiculous sentiments. I get that hindsight is 20/20, but why bother giving run to these things without a shred of balance?

Senate Democrats matched the media’s insanity.

Here’s @SenFranken (remember him?), @SenMarkey, @SenSanders and @SenatorTester

But then a funny thing happened. After net neutrality was rolled back, the internet didn’t die.

In fact, it got faster, cheaper and more accessible: fee.org/articles/net-n…
When the pandemic hit, America’s internet could handle the bandwidth demands of the Zoom era.

Europe, who has its own version of net neutrality, didn’t fare so well. Image
Despite all that, the new Democrat-led FCC wants the government to fix a problem that doesn’t exist. @WSJ’s editorial board summarizes the situation well: wsj.com/articles/feder…
The fight wasn’t entirely without benefit. Never forget this @AjitPai gold.

There’s media bias, and then there’s a press actively pushing government propaganda because the president told them to.

Today we saw perhaps the most egregious recent example of the latter. Follow along ⤵️

Yesterday the White House sent out a memo to heads of major media organizations telling them to more aggressively defend the president as he faces impeachment.

Rather than be insulted that the president would presume to use the American press as his mouthpiece, the media largely obliged.

Just look at this from @CNN.

Before the fires were put out in Maui the media had already blamed the disaster on their pet issue: climate change.

I want to walk through some of the coverage b/c the way it’s bad is emblematic of how the media (wrongly) covers climate. @FreeBeacon
freebeacon.com/media/hawaii-w…
Maybe the clearest example comes from @nytimes.

In explaining how lush Hawaii had become the site of a disaster, they declared it was “as straightforward as it is sobering” - climate change.

It wasn’t. It was messy, and multicausal, and complicated. As disasters often are.

Similar theme here from @TheAtlantic. Perhaps it is a warning - about the role of human error and corporate failure and bad local policies.

But it isn’t a warning about how climate change is “accelerating” at all. Image

The media has gotten to the bottom of who the real victim is in the charges against Hunter Biden: Hunter Biden himself.

Me for @FreeBeacon. A few real gems 🧵ed below.

freebeacon.com/media/republic…
There was a lot of “this isn’t a big deal because it’s happened before!” takes. This from @USATODAY is my second favorite. Image
And that’s because @AP likening Hunter’s travails to the misadventures of Teddy Roosevelt’s young children has to take the top spot. ImageImage

It has been 82 days since @ddale8, @CNN’s presidential fact checker, has fact-checked Joe Biden, the president.

In the interim, he has fact checked Republicans 29 times, and former President Trump 18 times.

What gives? @FreeBeacon freebeacon.com/media/daniel-d…
I know that there’s been some Trump news in the interim, but not all of those 29 checks seem mission critical. ImageImage
Especially because there is a sitting president who is saying things that aren’t true - even other mainstream outlets are pointing it out. ImageImage

When Donald Trump walked slowly down some wet stairs the entire mainstream press lost its mind. ImageImageImageImage
Have we tracked down an explanation of Biden’s fall yet @washingtonpost? Image
As always. @JRubinBlogger Image

Yet again, the media has written Kevin McCarthy's political obituary too soon. Me @FreeBeacon.

And a quick 🧵🧵 of some of my favorites. ⤵️ freebeacon.com/media/kevin-mc…
This was mere hours before the bill got over 300 votes. nytimes.com/2023/05/31/us/…
"There were rumblings of a revolt against the agreement by...Freedom Caucus members...While conservatives likely can’t kill the agreement on their own, they can make McCarthy’s life miserable depending on how far they take their displeasure" @politico 5/28 politico.com/news/2023/05/2…
