Donald Trump has always been fucking crazy. Not in any way that would enable him to plead insanity to any of the 91 felony charges he faces. But he’s a lifelong malignantly narcissistic sociopath with antisocial personality disorder who is incapable of empathy or remorse (THREAD)

He is also fundamentally unable to exhibit or feel compassion; assess risk; navigate reality; tell the truth; accept responsibility; or consider anyone or anything other than himself through the immeasurably warped prism of his own cosmic delusions of grandeur.

This is what has rendered him both so profoundly dangerous and so completely unfit for the Presidency even before he began to show serious signs of cognitive attenuation over the past 6 years.

When I write about legal issues, I remind people I am not a lawyer. When it comes to psychology, while I do not practice, I am the child of 2 renowned psychologists who graduated valedictorian of my undergraduate class in psychology before going on to obtain my Master’s degree.

And I was absolutely horrified for my country when Donald Trump announced his candidacy in 2015; when he secured the Republican nomination; and most of all, when just the right set of ludicrous circumstances managed to illegitimately grant him the Presidency in November of 2016.

This front page of the Daily Mirror from Thursday, November 10th of 2016 will forever be burned into my brain, as it so perfectly encapsulated exactly what I was asking myself (just replace “they” with “we”):

As a former resident of NY who spent most of my life there, I’ve known who Donald Trump was for as long as I can remember. And I didn’t hesitate to share it with anyone who was less familiar with him or somehow under the false impression that he was a “successful businessman” or

someone with ANY business being ANYWHERE near ANY position of public trust or governmental power, much less THE MOST POWERFUL position of public trust in THE MOST POWERFUL government in the world. Trump is the last person ON EARTH who should be entrusted with the nuclear codes.

He has always been:
—A pathological liar
—A mendacious sociopath
—A duplicitous self-congratulating con artist
—A fraudulent & Machiavellian businessman
—A serial sexual abuser, rapist, and denigrator of women
—An emotionally vacuous absentee father/husband/brother/uncle/grandpa

—A perfidious serial adulterer
—A vile and petulant manchild
—A sadistic bully who finds pleasure in the pain and misfortune of others
—An insatiably greedy and power-hungry megalomaniac
—A vapid, self-obsessed blusterer with indescribably tacky and pretentious taste

—A virulent racist who was sued by Nixon’s DOJ for refusing to rent condos to black people and took out full page ads in the @nytimes calling for the execution of the (now exonerated) “Central Park 5” (a decision he proudly says he stands by even after they were found innocent)

@nytimes —A self-aggrandizing buffoon who has never lifted a finger for anyone other than himself

According to a biography of Donald Trump from 2016, he exhibited signs of severe psychological dysfunction and maladjustment even in childhood.

@nytimes Based on dozens of interviews with former classmates, babysitters, neighbors, and others who knew the failed former President during his early years, he was a little bully who enjoyed pulling girls’ hair and once threw rocks at another toddler in his playpen.

@nytimes He was a loud-mouthed know-nothing know-it-all in the classroom who was incapable of admitting a mistake and once boasted (falsely) about giving his music teacher a black eye. “That man…even at age ten, was a little shit,” according to a now deceased former teacher of Donald’s.

Two of his childhood neighbors described him as impulsive, volatile, and fiercely competitive. “He could [instantly] erupt in anger, pummeling another boy or smashing a baseball bat if he struck out.”

He misbehaved often enough to land him in detention so frequently that his buddies nicknamed the punishment “DTs”—short for “Donny Trump.”

When he was barely a teenager, his father abruptly sent him to a military boarding school—which seems a bit of an overreaction for an adolescent who wasn’t abusing drugs or getting arrested—which Donald saw as the ultimate rejection.

According to a number of other students from the academy, he tried to push a fellow cadet out of a second-story window in response to being hit with a broomstick; an incident that was only averted because two other students, thankfully, intervened.

If this is starting to sound familiar to you, it should. Even Trump himself admitted that he has not matured much since he was a kid. “When I look at myself in the first grade and I look at myself now, I’m basically the same,” he told a biographer back in 2016.

“The temperament is not that different.” This is one of the exceedingly rare instances in which he actually said something true about himself on the record that wasn’t just an accidental confession to crimes.

After graduating from high school in 1964, Trump joined his father at the dedication of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Amid the pageantry, Donald noticed that no one had paid homage to the bridge’s 85-year-old Swedish designer, who’d traveled from Europe for the occasion.

“I realized then and there that if you let people treat you how they want, you’ll be made a fool,” he said. “I realized something I would never forget: I don’t want to be made anybody’s sucker.” (Instead, he wanted to make everyone HIS sucker)

By the time he was 18, Donald began to feel like he had a clear sense of his own destiny, which he shared with a fellow cadet, Jeff Ortenau. “I’m going to be very famous one day,” Trump promised. “You know what?” Ortenau recalls saying. “You’re probably going to be president.”

Interestingly, he wasn’t the only one to accurately forecast our nation’s worst and most catastrophic “POTUS.” ‘The Simpsons’ also had an episode all the way back in March of 2000 (!) that eerily (and completely unintentionally) predicted Trump’s Presidency.

Titled “Bart to the Future,” it was set 30 years in the future, in which Lisa had grown up to become President of the United States (which is 1000% believable if you watch the show) and says to her staff, “As you know, we inherited quite the budget [crisis] from President Trump.”

None of the writers were happy about their clairvoyance. So much so that in the opening credits of the first episode that aired following the 2016 election—on 11/14, just 4 days after Trump’s ‘victory’—Bart can be seen writing on the chalkboard “BEING RIGHT SUCKS” over and over.

Surprising absolutely no one who had any understanding of the fundamentally broken and unfit individual Donald Trump was, least of all myself, his Presidency was an unmitigated disaster for America that we are still reeling from in countless ways.

His tax cuts for the rich gave away $2 Trillion to billionaires and left us an $8 Trillion deficit (as Bart says, being right really does suck sometimes). He weakened our alliances, our national security, and our standing as a nation.

He capitulated to our enemies on the world stage over our own intelligence agencies and attempted to extort our allies into fabricating dirt on his future political opponents—leading to his first impeachment in February of 2019.

He sabotaged our pandemic response leading to hundreds of thousands of preventable American deaths. He obstructed justice, intimidated and tampered with witnesses, told over 30,000 lies, abused every power of the office, and racked up impeachable offenses like it was his job.

He took complete advantage of the immunity from prosecution that the Presidency provided, wielded the DOJ like his own personal legal firm to go after his political enemies, and used the highest office of the United States to promote his own failing resorts and properties.

He disparaged our troops, refused to be photographed with wounded veterans, called our fallen soldiers “losers and suckers,” saluted a NK General, exchanged “love letters” with Kim Jong-Un, hosted Russian agents in the Oval Office and gave away classified intelligence;

He attacked Gold Star Families, war heroes, active service members, and past Presidents. He mocked a disabled reporter, made inestimable sexist comments, and emboldened white supremacists, conspiracy theorists, and domestic terrorists.

He demonized all immigrants from Central and South America as “rapists, criminals, and drug dealers,” spread racist lies about President Obama being “born in Kenya” with zero evidence whatsoever to substantiate it in a racist effort to delegitimize his presidency/administration.

He said Haitian immigrants “all have AIDS” and called white supremacists marching with torches chanting “BLOOD AND SOIL” and “JEWS WILL NOT REPLACE US” who murdered a counterprotestor “very fine people.”

His DHS performed forced hysterectomies on migrant women without their knowledge or consent, used the senseless and xenophobic notion of “building a big, beautiful wall” along our southern border to scam millions of dollars from his supporters.

He banned transgender people from the military and an entire religion (Islam) from the United States, making sure to exclude countries in which he had personal business ties, of course.

He facilitated the Federalist Society’s and the evangelical/Christian fundamentalist right’s capture of the Supreme Court by appointing 1/3 of SCOTUS [and 1/3 of the entire federal judiciary], all of which are completely illegitimate,

which has given them a conservative supermajority of extremists that has rolled back reproductive rights for half the population, ended affirmative action in college admissions, given bigots who own businesses a First Amendment right to discriminate against LGBT customers

loosened gun laws across the country, eviscerated the VRA, and on and on. He impugned our democratic institutions like the separation of powers, independence of the judiciary, and the free press—which he branded, in perfectly Hitler-esque fashion—“the enemy of the people.”

His “press secretaries” served no purpose other than to shamelessly lie to the American people on his behalf from the WH Briefing Room. His cabinet was composed of arch-nemeses of every federal agency that existed,

as his goal was to burn the republic to the ground, not “Make it Great” (again or otherwise) and consolidate the power of the Presidency for his own benefit and potential abuse.

He violated anti-nepotism laws and overrode objections from all pentagon officials to install his daughter and son-in-law into his administration, where they fleeced $640 million from the treasury and then made off with another $2 billion from the Saudis,

which we still have neither investigated nor figured out what they received in exchange for that utterly astounding sum of money.

and abused the pardon power to hand them out to his political cronies, criminal coconspirators, traitorous administrative officials forced to resign in scandal and disgrace, and racist vigilantes.

He floated the idea of nuking Hurricanes; said windmills cause cancer; threw paper towels at disaster victims; suggested people “inject bleach” or “put UV light inside the body” as potential coronavirus treatments (which will LITERALLY KILL YOU)

He attempted to alter the trajectory of a storm with a black Sharpie & perpetually demonstrated that he had absolutely no concept—nor shred—of decency, intellect, responsibility, rationality, morality, honor, virtue, patriotism, public service, lawfulness, humility, or humanity.

He perjured his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and equally enforce the laws under Article II. He also perjured his oath by refusing to defend the United States from our adversaries (repeatedly).

While he abused his authority to declare fake national emergencies, he disbanded critical offices like the PREDICT program (which was literally designed to DETECT NOVEL CORONAVIRUS STRAINS IN CHINA AND OTHER PARTS OF ASIA; Trump closed it in 2018)

and initiatives to combat domestic terrorism that is most commonly perpetrated by his own rabid base of lunatic supporters.

He failed and betrayed America in every conceivable way. After losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden, he not only refused to concede, but criminally conspired to overturn the results and remain in power in direct defiance of the Constitution and the will of the American people.

This scheme, which was rooted in his propagation of “The Big Lie” that ‘he actually won the election, but it was rigged’ (NOPE), spanned all three branches of government and culminated in Trump’s incitement of the January 6th insurrection

which killed 8 people, injured over 140 others, and nearly ended American democracy. After his treasonous coup attempt failed, he was impeached a second time, on January 11th of 2021, making him the first POTUS in U.S. history to be impeached twice (So. Much. Winning.)

Then, on his way out the door, he decided to steal hundreds of top secret and classified documents from the White House; store them non-securely throughout his spy-infested resort; in the bathrooms, closets, basement, and garage of Mar-a-Lago

and refused to return them even after being subpoenaed multiple times, insisting that he “didn’t take any documents, but if I did, I declassified them, and if I didn’t, I was allowed to take them.”

We have a mentally ill 77-year-old malignant narcissist who has never left the “mine” phase of toddlerhood and thinks he can abscond with dozens of boxes of classified and top secret intelligence (including NUCLEAR SECRETS of foreign governments)

Because he thinks the law doesn’t apply to him (and he has yet to proven wrong). Thankfully, he is finally entering the “find out” phase from all this fucking around; as he’s been federally indicted by Jack Smith’s team for willful retention of national defense information.

There are no words to adequately express how exasperating it is that, even after all of this, the media STILL treats Donald Trump like a legitimate candidate for the Presidency in 2024 instead of the lying, traitorous, criminal, mentally unfit abomination that he IS.

Or that they are devoting virtually all of their Biden coverage to obsessing over his age, as if they are just now realizing that a President who took office in 2021 at the age of 77 will—shocker—continue to age over the course of his term, and is therefore now 80 years old.

BREAKING NEWS: It turns out aging is something that continues to happen even in your seventies. Who knew? So they pretend that Biden continuing to age constitutes a scandal worthy of endless panic and questioning his “fitness” for office (it doesn’t),

And SAY NOTHING about the fact that Donald Trump—who is only 3 years younger and infinitely less healthy—is not only also aging at the same rate, and exhibiting far MORE signs of cognitive decline than Biden, but is also becoming EVEN MORE DANGEROUS in terms of his rhetoric.

Trump’s most recent speech was the most bloodthirsty, authoritarian, and utterly grotesque display of insane cruelty and potential incitement of violence against his political opponents that he has ever given.

It was a speech that should have set off alarm bells and sirens across the country and front page headlines capturing the INSANITY and EXISTENTIAL THREAT to AMERICAN DEMOCRACY that Donald Trump represents.

Instead, crickets and continued coverage of the fact that Biden ages like all other humans.

In his most recent speech, Trump did all of the following (to raucous applause, cheers, and laughter from his deranged supporters):

1.) He mocked and “joked” about Nancy Pelosi’s husband (who is in his 80’s) getting his skull cracked open with a hammer (BY ONE OF HIS OWN SUPPORTERS DURING A HOME INVASION) that required him to have surgery and could have easily killed him

TRUMP: “And we’ll stand up to crazy Nancy Pelosi, who ruined San Francisco. How’s her husband doing, by the way? Anybody know? And she’s against building a wall at our border even though she has a wall around her house—which obviously didn’t do a very good job.”

TRUMP: “If you don’t like somebody, or if somebody’s beating you by 10, 15, or 20 points like we’re doing with Crooked Joe Biden, let’s indict the motherfucker! Let’s indict them.”

TRUMP: “And we will immediately stop all of the pillaging and theft. Very simply, if you rob a store, you can fully expect to be shot as you are leaving that store. SHOT!”

@realDonaldTrump He continued: “The word that they shoot you will get out within minutes and our nation, in one day, will be an entirely different place. There must be retribution for theft and destruction and the ruination of our country.”

@realDonaldTrump .@realDonaldTrump: I don’t believe there even IS a nation on the planet currently in which such a brutal system of authoritarianism exists that all shoplifters are extrajudicially executed by firing squad, but that you want America to be the first is FUCKING INSANE

@realDonaldTrump 4. Claimed he could win the state of California in the next election

Trump: “We’re not going to lose by 5 [points]. We’re going to win, we would win. I don’t believe it when they say it, but the state is rigged. It’s a rigged election, it’s a horrible thing, and we have to…”

@realDonaldTrump He continued: “…turn it back. This is a state that the right Republican can win and I think actually win easily. No way we lose this state in a real election. If this was a real election, there’s no way.”

@realDonaldTrump And continued: “If we had a real election with the real polling booths, if you had real polling—you don’t have any polling booths. You have people signing something and dropping it in the mail, and who the hell knows what happens after that? It’s ridiculous.”

.@realDonaldTrump: What’s even more ridiculous than your false claims about rigged elections and “lack of voting booths” is you thinking you can win California, which you lost in 2020 by 30 points. You cannot win CA. And even suggesting that you could in 2024 is FUCKING INSANE

@realDonaldTrump 5. Said the solution to the California wildfires is to “dampen the forests”

TRUMP: “All the currently dry canals will be brimming and used to irrigate everything, including your own homes and bathrooms and everything. You’re going to be happy, and I’m going to get it done fast.”

@realDonaldTrump He continued: “They say there’s so much water up north that I want to have the overflow areas go into your forests and dampen your forests. Because if you dampen your forests you’re not going to have these forest fires that are burning at levels that nobody’s ever seen before.”

@realDonaldTrump .@realDonaldTrump: Sorry to burst your bubble, you unconscionable dumbass, but no, you are not the first person to figure out that water is a flame retardant. And no, this is not a viable solution to wildfires. It’s just FUCKING INSANE (And unconscionably STUPID).

6. Promised to investigate members of the judicial branch in retribution for prosecuting him

Trump: “We will investigate all the corrupt federal prosecutors and district attorneys!”

.@realDonaldTrump: The executive branch does not investigate the judicial branch, Donald. And even if it did, the President does not direct those investigations because the DOJ operates independently. And to believe, much less assert/promise, otherwise, is FUCKING INSANE.

@realDonaldTrump Trump is utterly and completely nuts. And his rhetoric is increasingly unhinged, authoritarian, bloodthirsty, and dangerous.

So I am pleading to the valued members of our free press to PLEASE HEAR ME:

@realDonaldTrump AMERICA NEEDS YOU TO TREAT THIS LIKE THE CRISIS THAT IT IS.

WE NEED YOU TO STOP NORMALIZING OR IGNORING IT.

WE NEED YOU TO STOP REPEATING THE MISTAKES OF 2016.

WE NEED YOU TO STOP LETTING “BUT HIS AGE” BECOME 2024’s “BUT HER EMAILS.”
