Looks like Hamas took out that Israeli tank with a drone that dropped grenades - similar to how Ukraine has been hitting Russian tanks;
Israel seems completely unprepared for the new style of war with cheap drones turning old mortar shells into precision bombs — Here, Hamas released footage shows a drone dropping a shell onto Israel troops fighting from what they thought was cover:
Wild:
Israeli Commander Nimrod Aloni captured
Hamas must have gotten super deep into Israel AND BACK to do this. What a massive intelligence failure.
Unreal:
Israel is EVACUATING its airbase near the Gaza Strip as Palestinians in vehicles drive unimpeded into Israel. Are they Hamas? Are the civilian refugees? No one has any idea. Israel has lost control over the border *for now* it seems
Israeli troops in Sderot are searching for Hamas infiltrators
Perhaps the tempo has shifted and there are now gunmen in hiding, within residential districts? There doesn’t seem to be any gunfire in the background/urgency in their movements
Maybe the tempo has decreased. Maybe not — Israeli troops in Sderot shoot at and fire a rocket towards Hamas militants but….don’t they seem relaxed to you? Odd. Maybe that’s just how it normally is/no wasted movements.
Israel striking back by bombing the Gaza Strip. Not sure that Hamas will let up.
Update: it seems Israel has totally lost control of certain areas, but is confident they will regain them soon — here are Palestinian reinforcements joining Hamas in Sderot
Hamas has apparently captured many Israeli soldiers and civilians. Here is a female Israeli soldier who has been captured and taken back into Gaza from Israel by the Palestinians:
Wild: Israel has completely lost control of settlements near Gaza, Hamas is straight up carrying off Israeli captives a mix of civilian and military, men and women alike
Holy shit.
Hamas have captured an entire Israeli post and all its equipment. Presumably all of the soldiers/police Israel had there have fled, been killed, or been captured. Incredible
It is NOT a small base. Hamas has completely captured this IDF base from Israel, and the Palestinians appear to have taken possession of multiple armored vehicles. If they can get them working quickly, it’ll be like a more kinetic situation than the Taliban takeover shortly
Another captured IDF base near Gaza. There are multiple tanks just sitting around. Apparently Hamas has taken out several poorly defended posts during the holiday hours, but has not made much of an effort to take the tanks, capturing armored vehicles and trucks instead.
Hamas has knocked out multiple IDF tank crews. Here the Palestinians appear to have been able to overrun a tank, and capture its crew. Evidently they shot one who was resisting and are dragging off a surviving Israeli as a captive.
Update: it looks like the female Israeli soldier captured by Hamas is still alive, and being held hostage somewhere in Gaza by the Palestinians
I wonder if this is a way to limit IDF willingness to bomb Gaza?
Saudi Arabia has put out an official statement, calling for a ceasefire but also explicitly noting that these events are the result of Israeli occupation of Palestine
I wonder how that impacts Saudi and Israeli cooperation
We'll hear coping just like after the "red wave" failed in 2022 or the "stop the steal" coping in 2020 - MAGA has its head in the sand about THREE things:
1. Trump won in 2016 with tiny margins of victory in Michigina, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania - among non-college educated (working but often middle class) exurban whites: a lot of people who were union workers or would have been non-voters showed up.
But did Trump 'win whites'?
Trump actually won fewer (slightly; 1% less) white voters than Mitt Romney got in 2012.
Did you know that? Among whom do you think Trump did worse on net? It's important he picked up voters in the right electoral college *shape* to win, but also that he did overall lose whites.
They could openly admit firing only white people in the name of “retention equity”
The only way it ever stops is if white people politically organize to pursue their material self-interest *as* white people, which is literal white nationalism, which you’d reject
What do all of these new prominent right wingers expect? Why is anyone surprised about this? What do they think opposition to the Civil Rights Act was about? Why do they think the Southern states fought integration, or why middle America opposed forced bussing? Etc, etc, etc.
Explicit penalization for being white is routine in America.
If you want that to stop, @libsoftiktok , then you have to commit to white nationalism, you have to commit to the political pursuit of white self-interest.
The Tucker Carlson in Russia critiques are true:
Yes, it's just Moscow center
Yes, the groceries are expensive
Yes, Putin killed Navalny
But Tucker has NEVER seen such a modern city, with SO many white people, where public culture is *assertively* hetero and nominally Christian
Tucker is a child of the Cold War; this is shocking to him.
All the dismissals he grew up with about Russia as Godless, as poor, as corrupt - these were results of the *Communists* whose spiritual descendants Tucker feels he battles daily in America:
I was in Kiev (and Nikolaev) in November of 2021, just before the war. I'd lived for a decade before in NYC, and I experienced what I'm sure Tucker is going through; amazement at *large* modern city defined by white people yet with very little 'gayness':
But they wouldn't, and won't, as that would mean at least implicitly repudiating transgenderism by accepting their (former) customers' moral framework as the right one, which says transgenderism is wrong. So they try this stuff:
Shane Gillis and Donald Trump endorse transgenderism.
If Bud Light partnered with someone who said "I want to gas Jews because I'm a Nazi", and Bud Light never actually apologized but said stuff like 'Third, to all our valued consumers, we hear you.' in a 'move on statement',
We would understand Bud Light did not view being a Nazi who wants to gas Jews as a bad thing in itself, merely unpopular with customers, and didn't accept it had morally transgressed. We'd understand Shane Gillis and Trump's endorsement of Bud Light as endorsement of Nazism.
The message young people get and have been getting is it is normal to have sex with lots of people, that sex is no big deal, that it is something they should do, soon! — but that pregnancy is life ruining, pregnancy is always a risk, and they must never get/get anyone pregnant.
Not only is all of this socially and emotionally corrosive, damaging to the life outcomes and normal relations between men and women, it’s also based on biological falsehoods about equality and the reproductive window, for women especially.
