DOJ not only got a subpeona for their work phones and devices, but for their personal phones and in one instance, the chief investigators wife’s phone, all by pretending to look for the Renteria Memo leak
A ruse. A subterfuge to spy on investigators.
Normally when the collection under the subpeona is done, DOJ is supposed to notify the person after the fact that their electronic communications had been subpoenaed
This wasn’t done
Google notified the investigators that their devices had been subpeonaed
So investigators assigned to look into the Spygate hoax only discovered their devices had been subpeonaed and spied on by DOJ by accident, when Google told them
The investigators sent a FOIA request to DOJ, and after years, DOJ responded to the FOIA.
In the DOJ response to the FOIA, investigators found out that not only had their work devices been spied on, but their personal devices, and their family members devices
Well beyond any reasonable scope and hidden for several years. 7 years in fact
When one of the investigators called DOJ about the shocking FOIA response they received today, DOJ said it must’ve been a prank. He told them it wasn’t a prank, and they hung up on him
Anyway, that’s my understanding of todays development. Quite a few cobwebs up in there
The DOJ denied, in court, on 2 Sept 2017, that they spied on Trump on 2 Sept 2017
On 12 Sept 2017, under the ruse of a leak hunt about the Renteria Memo, the DOJ got a subpeona to spy on Spygate investigators
22 March 2017 Rep Devin Nunes says Obama admin spied on Trump
17 April 2017 American Oversight watchdog sues via FOIA for records of search warrants.
1 Sep 2017 DOJ tells court they have no records
12 Sep 2017 DOJ gets a subpeona to spy on investigators under false pretense
May 2016 FBI is told about the Renteria Memo
9 May 2017 Comey gets fired and starts leaking all kinds of crap
24 May 2017 someone, we dont know who 🙄, leaks the Renteria Memo story to WaPo in a way that’s sympathetic to Comey
It wasn’t congressional investigators who leaked
Apologies.
The FBI was told about the Renteria Memo first in March 2016, not May
