Update: The big Mark Steyn @MarkSteynOnline & Michael Mann trial has been--postponed again!
It was set to begin in DC Superior Court on October 30, 2023, but due to the judge's illness, it has been canceled!

Here are my rough notes from attending in person the preliminary hearing on Mann v. Steyn on Monday, Oct 16, 2023
After 1 hour of mostly technical disputes, the judges issued a break for the court reporter and as Mann came walking by me, I said, "Hi Michael," and he just ignored me and continued to walk by.
Mann's lawyers argued over allowing McIntyre to testify. Mann's lawyers are arguing passionately against allowing McIntyre in the courtroom, calling him a 'mining executive' who is not a climate scientist.
At the pretrial hearing this morning. I told everyone in the hallway outside the courtroom and even the court official who asked for Michael Mann that he would not be there till 9:59. And sure enough, Mann walked in at 9:59, not a moment before. He was surrounded by his entourage of at least three lawyers
So far, it has been all about procedural matters, with Mann's lawyers arguing they want to include the National Academy of Sciences 2006 report to show how the hockey stick was "valid science".
Mann's lead attorney bragged that the hockey stick was" part of the science of global warming" and they also want to include Muir Russell's report on Michael Mann in the proceedings.
Steyn, who is acting as his own lawyer, correctly pointed out that even Prof. Gerald North disparaged with low-level confidence in the hockey stick.
Mann's lawyer countered, "This is about the truth"
Steyn went on to say that this is about the corruption of Penn State.
Steyn explained that "a convicted criminal from Penn State presided over the exoneration of Mann"
Steyn, acting as his own lawyer, is going to do very well with a jury of at least six people when they are seated for the trial, which begins the week of October 30 and is expected to go 3 weeks.
