After #MSGov results, you need some context for why @MSTODAYnews hates @TateReeves so much, & why it totally fabricates charges against him, and pretends he has nothing to do with his own success. Give me a moment (thread): 1/10
In 2004, in his 1st year in office @tatereeves sued the most popular Dem pol in the state, AG Mike Moore, & won - dismantling a state-settlement-funded non-profit that was his de facto political operation. Notice served. 2/10
In 2012, in his first year as LG, @tatereeves sinks the state bond bill, chock full of capital projects for universities, serving notice that ALL future spending policy will go through him, be more conservative & that the higher ed bureaucracy need pay attention. 3/10
In 2015, Jim Barksdale funds Amendment 42 to give all power to set eduction funding levels statewide to one Hinds County judge. Guess who organized & funded the campaign to beat it - with less money? It was @tatereeves. Tate vowed to never be outspent again. 4/10
The next year (2016), Barksdale starts @MSTODAYnews, using left-wing donor money to produce “free” left-slanted content for other news outlets, from a staff of mostly ideologues. The only price for getting the content was sacrificing integrity. 5/10
In 2019, Barksdale stakes Dem gov nominee Jim Hood, the last statewide Dem, in a race he is favored to win, while @MSTODAYnews props up leftish R Bill Waller in the GOP primary. @tatereeves beats Waller twice & then Hood. 6/10
In 2022, @MSTODAYnews drops all neutral pretense & cranks out anti-Tate content full blast centered on faked connection to TANF scandal, when in fact MT editor @GanucheauAdam’s mom was the one embroiled. He covers up his conflict for months, then promptly stops disclaiming it. 7/
From the first days of 2023, @MSTODAYnews is Brandon Presley’s cheering section & his attack dogs. I dare you to dig up 2 articles or even one cartoon critical of him, or off-key from his campaign’s own message of the day. 8/10
After Tate becomes the 1st in modern MS history to win 6 statewide races, @MSTODAYnews’s @BobbyHarrison9 writes his success off to mere partisanship, like he said Tate’s 2019 victory was due to Trump, & his 2003 victory was due to racism. At least his hackery is consistent. 9/10
Tate Reeves has never lost to libs yet in Mississippi. And he beat not only @BrandonPresley & the @DemGovs this time, he beat perhaps the most relentless, & intentionally deceptive “media” outlet any Deep South politician has ever faced. Let the post-mortems tell the truth. 10/10

We’ve ALL made mistakes on #Covid assessments. Fauci said it wasn’t anything public shd worry about. Trump said it’d be gone by April. Cuomo kept subways open. Schumer thought impeachment more impt. Who’s willing to learn from their #Covid mistakes? Will journalists? /1
I see otherwise-smart writers ripping re-open govs – w/ no idea it makes them look ignorant & destroys their credibility as journalists. I trained & (briefly) practiced journalism. One reason I got out was the awful feeling when I knew I was in the dark but had to file anyway. /2
On re-open Govs, you’re really in the dark & you need to check your roll. You don’t see 'em pore over death records 1-by-1, UI filings, TANF rolls, chemotherapy drops. You don't see them do mental math on each LTCF outbreak. You don’t get their candid convos w/ epidemiologists /3
