SITUATION REPORT, KHERSON THEATER OF OPERATIONS >>
(NOVEMBER 10, 2023)
Information in this thread is widespread on Russian channels, and therefore does not violate OpSec.

Ukrainian forces have expanded their control over considerable areas on the Russian-occupied bank of the river.

They have also been strengthened by reinforcements, so that there are now several hundred Ukrainian troops holding and consolidating positions and advancing on the Russian-occupied bank.

NOTE that preparations for this operation have been ongoing since as far back as July.
---

UKRAINIAN POSITIONS AND ADVANCES ON THE LEFT BANK:
>> Ukrainian forces now have firm control over positions reaching from the Antonovskiy Bridge to the railway bridge to the east of it, as shown in the blue area (A) on the map below.

>> Ukrainian troops are also conducting assaults through Poima (B), Pishchanivka (C) and Pidstepne (D). Ukrainian troops have also established positions between Pidstepne and Kozachi Laheri (E), and are now consolidating the same.

>> Ukrainian forces have expanded their control of Krynky and the surrounding areas (F), and are now storming russian positions to the south-west (G) and south (H) of Krynky.

>> The Oleshky-Nova Kakhovka road has been cut in two places by these assaults, and Ukrainian troops are advancing past the road and into the woods bordering the desert (H).
---------------

ANALYSIS OF UKRAINIAN TACTICS:
>> This is an excellent area to establish a beach head, because the Oleshky Sands desert is impassible and acts as a massive shield against Russian counter-attacks.

Any counter attacks will therefore have to come along the banks of the Dnipro river, and these can be held under heavy artillery fire from the Ukrainian-held bank of the river.

While Ukrainian assaults continue, the desert again complicates russian attempts to defend the area, giving them no space to maneuver or retreat - they literally fight with the desert to their banks.

>> Ukraine continues to use a new class of indigenously-manufactured drone with longer range to engage the enemy. These drones have been reverse engineered from the Iranian Shaheed drones.

>> Russian forces in the area of the present operation are under heavy fire from drone-directed HIMARS strikes.
---------------

ANALYSIS OF RUSSIAN FORCE STRENGTH IN THE AREA:
>> Russian forces in the Kherson theater of operations are highly depleted, and likely do not possess sufficient forces or reserves to impede Ukrainian advances in the area.

>> Reinforcement from other sectors is also highly unlikely, with Russia presently conducting heavy assaults in areas like Avdiivka, and also attempting to defend Zaporizhzhia. It is therefore unlikely that Russia has combat-ready reserves to spare for the Kherson theater of operations.

>> Russian minefields in the area have been swept away by the flood that they triggered by destroying the Nova Kakhovka dam. This simplifies Ukrainian assaults in this theater of operations.

>>Russians forces have placed demolition charges on civilian infrastructure in the area, just as they did before their withdrawal from Kherson.
---------------

A KEY TO THE MAP:
>> In the map below, Blue Areas and Blue Arrows show present areas under Ukrainian control, or vectors for Ukrainian assaults.

>> The Russian Flags show the location of Russian units, and the Ukrainian Symbols the location of Ukrainian ones.

>> My Image on the map (surrounded by a bright green circle) shows my rough location – within a rather vague kilometer or two, of course.

>> The Yellow Line shows the beginnings of Impassable Terrain. This is the Oleshky Sands Desert.

Democracy vs Dictatorships - who will own tomorrow?
(1/)

With Putin bribing interest groups, media, and even some politicians (like Orban and Le Pen) around the world, it is evident that global democracy is under threat like never before.

All over the world, the small-minded ‘bought’ corrupt - whether 'influencers' or media or even leaders - betray their people's future for Putin's money.

And Putin can afford it.

After all, he takes Russia's entire GDP and plows it into his schemes for world domination!

That's an enormous amount of wealth, the sort of wealth that can – and does - subvert nations.
Image
(2/)
So the free world is in great danger - yet, ironically, the dictators are in great danger as well!

You think there are no voices of protest in Russia - but in reality Russia has been seen increasing protests for the last decade.

Putin starts wars to suppress the protests, because there's a strong section of hawks in his population.

But let this war go VERY badly for Russia, and the Russian population will turn - not only against Putin, but against the hawks as well.

And when they turn, let the hawks beware the carnage. The Russian people will be merciless when they finally crush them.

Let's look at how secure - or insecure - other dictatorships like China are...

Xi seems to be solidly in power.

In reality, China's economic wealth was built upon wrecking the environment and having people willingly work for slave wages.

That is changing.

China has a rapidly growing middle-class that requires a decent life-style, and an exponentially increasing section of the population that absolutely do not want to work at slave wages.

There are other cracks in the 'regime' as well - they've made serious errors in policy and financial management, and immense numbers of Chinese people have lost their homes, their savings, and their future.

And they're not happy about it.

Play our cards right, and change can come to China.

If anyone wonders HOW Ukrainians manage to go on, despite all the horror that is inflicted on us every day.

Well, to tell the absolute truth, I don't really have any resources left, and haven't had any for a long, LONG time. There have simply been too many losses... including my young brother.

And we've been fighting for too long... most of my family have been fighting for nine years, like my cousin below.

So I exist in a sort of fog, with almost no energy, and whatever I do seem to be done in 'slow time' - there's an immense amount of mental fatigue.

But there's no choice but to go on, is there?

So we move forward, not in hope, which is a frail resource, but with the immense, undefeatable STRENGTH of beings (I'm talking of ALL of Ukraine, now) who KNOW they must go on, to put one painful step in front of the other - and another - and another - and another - to INFINITY if necessary.

It's not energy that drives us. It's not hope.

It's WILL.

And the future is WRITTEN in WILL.

Mind you, I don't think the people of Ukraine are in any way special in doing this, or better than any other free people.

We just happen to be next door to russia.

If ANY of you were next door to russia (any of your nations, I mean), you'd be kicking the bear's teeth in exactly as much as we are.

No free people would stand for this nonsense.

As a matter of fact, I've been noticing that the people of the free world - from the US to Australia to Ukraine, to Japan - and that includes countless more nations - are all REALLY 'one people' - we have the same beliefs, the same ethics, the same humanity, the same spirit.

We are all family.
Image
In a very important way, it is our honor - for all of us here - to defeat evil in the present that the ages to come may live in a better world. Our pain is our privilege.

We fight, that future generations may live better lives.

Our sacrifices will resonate into and change tomorrow.

HOW UKRAINE RETAINS ITS ETHICS AND HUMANITY IN THE MIDST OF A HORRIBLY BRUTAL WAR >>
(1/)

Have you ever wondered how Ukrainians can fight an enemy that is capable of the most horrific and widespread atrocities against civilians, and still retain our humanity?

You’ve all seen what Russia does.

The horrific – horrific– butchery in Bucha; the eradication of more than 80,000 innocent people in Mariupol; the daily – daily – random missiles fired by russia at civilian population centers, so that life becomes a throw of the dice, where a person never knows, when they wake in the morning, whether they will live through the day and the coming night… or die.

So how do we retain our humanity, in the face of such inhumanity?

How do we prevent ourselves, in fighting such brutal opponents, from ourselves descending to the level of our opponents?
Image
(2/)
It’s simple. We are a civilized people.

Civilized.

In that one word is all the explanation any other civilized people need for why we act with humanity; for our reasons are your reasons, our ethics are your ethics, our spirit is your spirit.

You know why we won’t cross that final red line into becoming our enemy.

Firstly, because we simply cannot do it.

Such actions would NEVER get support from the large majority of the Ukrainian population, and this is a fact.

Such brutality as Russia has shown in the ENTIRE COURSE of this conflict – the brutal, wide-spread, large-scale murders (let us call them by the right name, for that is what they are) – such brutality is something we can NEVER descend to.

Because we are better than that.

We are Ukraine.

We fight for the light; for humanity...
...for better futures for the human race.

We will treat even our enemies with humanity and kindness.

Because that is the RIGHT thing to do.

And THIS, more than anything else, is why we WILL win this conflict.
Image
(3/)
We can be killed, of course. We are but human - of course we can be killed.

But we cannot be defeated; because we are better human beings than the enemy…
...and no matter what the enemy does, they will never take that from us.

Alive or dead, victory is still ours.

AVDIIVKA, RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE;
SITUATION REPORT >>
(Thread 1/)

We've been seeing the russians suffer horrific losses at Avdiivka, but now there are indications that this disaster is worse even than it first appears.
---

AN ANALYSIS OF RUSSIAN ARTILLERY SUPPORT
In the absence of effective air superiority on both sides, combats devolve into a WWI-style combat where artillery shapes the battlefield.

This means that failing to establish artillery dominance over the battlefield is a recipe for disaster. Yet this is exactly what the Russians have failed to do in Avdiivka.
---

>> Russian artillery pieces are showing the effects of long use:
Firstly, while the russians have a large amount of artillery in the area, and while these units even outnumber Ukrainian units, the russian units field artillery pieces that have barrels that are largely worn out from long use - which means that their accuracy is questionable, to say the least.

Yes, the russians can blanket an area with artillery fire, but whether any of it will actually hit anywhere near where it is required is an open question.
---

>> Hardened Ukrainian Defenses:
Not only that, but Ukrainian defenses in the area are extremely well built, and in my opinion the shells presently being used by russian artillery units in the area are entirely inadequate to the task of demolishing these fortifications.
---

>> Effective Ukrainian Counter-Battery Fire
Couple that with the fact that Ukrainian artillery units deployed here are extremely adept at counter-battery fire, using shoot-and-scoot tactics that cause constant attrition amongst russian artillery while themselves evading counter-fire.
---

All this amounts to russia having utterly failed to achieve artillery dominance of the battlefield – which also means that they are unable to effectively support assault units as they try to advance.
(2/)
LOSSES AMONG ADVANCING RUSSIAN INFANTRY AND ARMOR

I don’t believe it is necessary for me to go into detail here, as there are dozens of videos of the losses the russians have been taking all over this platform, but suffice it to say that russian losses are on a scale that is unsustainable for an army that seeks to retain its combat effectiveness.

They have more lost more than 2000 troops and 300 vehicles in the last three days.

Troops and armor are flung against hardened fortifications, and armor is sent blindly into minefields or into artillery enfilades.

There are even some reports of the russian army trying to move troops forward in assaults in unprotected trucks, instead of in armored fighting vehicles.
---

While russia has proven time and again in this war that it is willing to callously sacrifice the lives of its people to attain even the smallest territorial gain, I believe that assaults such those as that being conducted at Avdiivka nevertheless strain the endurance, not only of the russian army, but of the russian state as a whole.
---

This is not a ‘war of survival’ for the Russian people - that is to say, they are not fighting off an invasion on their territory.

Therefore Putin cannot expect them to show the same resolve and to absorb the same losses as they did in WWII.

That said, I believe that a ‘breaking point’ will be reached if they lose more than 500,000 troops in this conflict – and while that seems a considerable distance away, they seem to be making dedicated efforts to attain just such losses.
(3/)
THE SITUATION IN RUSSIAN FIELD HOSPITALS BEHIND THE FRONT
By all indications the numbers of wounded being brought in have entirely overwhelmed the medical facilities available, with triage being resorted to, and desperate calls being made to doctors and surgeons across russia to ‘take a vacation’, and come to help in Avdiivka.

Whether any russian doctors fortunate enough to not be in Ukraine will be naïve enough to rise to this plea remains an open question.

RUSSIAN SETBACKS ON THE BATTLEFIELD
After the horrific price paid in their advances to the north of the city, where their forces had some success, taking a waste heap near a coke plant (shown below) that could serve as a strong point, there are now reports coming in that Ukrainian forces have pushed their forces back and have re-taken these areas.

GAINING A GENUINE UNDERSTANDING THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT...
(1/)

Before taking sides in this conflict, I think it would help if people understood the history of the region, and what lies behind the establishment of the State of Israel.

We're going to go far back in history, and see how past events led to the events of the present day.
---

THE ANCIENT DESTRUCTION OF ISRAEL

The Israeli nation was utterly disbanded and Jerusalem levelled to the ground, and the Israeli people scattered over the face of the world nearly two thousand years ago by the Roman Empire under the Emperor Hadrian, in response to the Bar Kokhba revolt of 132 CE.

This was the moment when the region was renamed 'Syria Palaestina' by the Romans.

The Jews were banned from Jerusalem for centuries to come.

The Jewish population fled the region in large numbers, to be replaced by pagans, Roman veterans and settlers from the Western regions of the Roman Empire. Heavy taxation caused even more of the Jewish people to flee.

When the Roman Empire converted to Christianity, Jerusalem became a Christian city. The Jews had at this point been banned from living in Jerusalem for centuries.

Christianity was now the dominant religion of the region that had once been Israel.
Image
(2/)
THE ARAB CONQUEST

The Arabs conquered the region in 635 CE.

Of course, with the Arab conquest, what with locals fleeing the region, or converting, and Arabs immigration, the demographics gradually changed.

Christians remained the dominant part of the population for a long time, but this gradually changed until the population was predominantly Muslim.
Image
(3/)
THE YEAR 1900

There had been some immigration of Jews back to Palestine, leading to Jerusalem becoming a largely Jewish city. The Jewish population in Palestine was about 23,000 at this time.

However, the total population of Palestine was at this point still 88% Muslim and 9% Christian.

HOLODOMOR - THE RUSSIAN-CREATED 'TERROR FAMINE'

Know the truth.

(THREAD 1/)

The word Holodomor refers to the ‘Terror Famine’ inflicted on Ukraine, which cost around seven million Ukrainian lives.
---

BEFORE I BEGIN, I WANT TO SAY THAT THE PHOTOGRAPHS USED IN THIS THREAD (WHILE ALSO AVAILABLE ON THE NET) WERE GIVEN TO ME PERSONALLY BY THE ACTUAL HEIR OF THE MAN WHO ORIGINALLY TOOK THEM.

I also have in my possession the original notes and memoirs of this Holodomor witness, also given to me by his heirs.

These notes and memoirs make for chilling, horrific reading.

As you read this thread, spare a thought to the heroism of the man who took these photographs, and who those few brave souls who wrote down their first-witness accounts and smuggled them out of the Soviet Union so that the world would know of this crime.
(2/)
Most historians now agree that the famine was – at least in its origins – a result of the imbecile heights that Russian mismanagement could rise to.

The Soviets, by trying to work communal theories of farming, and especially by setting party bureaucrats to run those farms,… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

A decision was made to seize ALL the food in Ukraine – which (as I said earlier) was one of the most prolific food-producing regions.

In 1933, the Russian army raided villages in Ukraine, confiscating all food, especially in 'blacklisted' areas – even food-stores from… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
